Max Power Mining Initiates Follow-Up Hydrogen Exploration in Saskatchewan
03.02.2026 - 04:44:06 | boerse-global.deFollowing its landmark discovery earlier this year, Max Power Mining is advancing its natural hydrogen exploration program in Saskatchewan with a second, strategically distinct drill test. The new "Bracken" well, scheduled to commence in February, aims to validate whether the hydrogen system extends across different geological formations in the region.
The company's upcoming operation is grounded in its recent success. On January 16, 2026, Max Power Mining confirmed Canada's first successful natural hydrogen find at its Lawson drill site. Analysis there recorded hydrogen concentrations reaching 286,000 parts per million (ppm), providing concrete evidence of a functioning subsurface hydrogen system.
Preparations for the Bracken well were formally announced on January 30, 2026. This new location is situated near the Saskatchewan-Montana border, approximately 325 kilometers southwest of the initial Lawson discovery. All necessary licensing for the operation is reportedly in place.
A Deliberate Shift in Geological Strategy
A key aspect of the Bracken project is its divergent geological approach. While the Lawson discovery was made along the extensive 475-kilometer Genesis Trend, the Bracken well will target different trap and seal mechanisms. A successful result here would significantly bolster the thesis that natural hydrogen systems in Saskatchewan are not isolated occurrences but can function across varied geological structures.
Should investors sell immediately? Or is it worth buying Max Power Mining?
The targeting for this second well utilizes a combined methodology, integrating proprietary 2D seismic data with an AI-powered earth modeling platform. Concurrently, ongoing analysis and resource modeling continue at the original Lawson site.
Diversified Portfolio and Financial Backing
Beyond its pioneering hydrogen ventures, Max Power Mining maintains a diversified project portfolio that includes critical minerals assets, such as a lithium project in Arizona. The company's exploration endeavors recently received a significant financial boost. In December 2025, it secured a $5 million USD strategic investment from an international energy partner.
The forthcoming Bracken drill test is poised to provide critical data. Its results will help determine the viability of pursuing additional targets within Max Power Mining's substantial land holdings in the area. The scheduled February spud date means the market will soon gain clearer insight into the broader, commercial-scale potential of natural hydrogen in this promising region.
