Wiltshire Police arrested and charged 36-year-old James Denys, of Ravensdale, East Wichel, with Section 18 grievous bodily harm — the most serious intent-based assault charge under UK law. Denys appeared at Swindon Magistrates' Court on July 25 and was remanded in custody. He is next due to appear at Swindon Crown Court on August 21.
A second man, also 36, was arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender. He has been released on bail pending further inquiries. Police are continuing to appeal for witnesses who were at the site during the attack.
