Following a period of significant boardroom departures and a substantial financial loss, Bougainville Copper has finalized a comprehensive restructuring of its senior leadership. The mining company, which operates in Papua New Guinea, is now repositioning itself for future operational challenges with a renewed governance team.

Financial Context and Market Relisting

The leadership transition coincides with the company's recent return to active trading on the stock exchange in early March. This resumption followed Bougainville Copper's fulfillment of its regulatory obligations, including the submission of preliminary financial figures for 2025. These results revealed a net loss of 16 million Kina for the period.

Despite this negative financial outcome, the lifting of the trading suspension marks a pivotal development for the company's equity. Management's immediate focus is now squarely on managing its exploration licenses and ensuring strict compliance with local mining legislation in Bougainville. These steps have formally established the groundwork for continuing core business activities under the new executive direction.

A Renewed Board of Directors

In a direct response to the late-February resignations of directors Peter Graham and Sir Moi Avei, the company has appointed new figures to key board positions. Kearnneth Nanei has assumed the role of Chairman of the Board with immediate effect. He succeeds Sir Melchior Togolo, who stepped down from the chairmanship but will remain with the organization as a standard board member and interim Chief Executive Officer.

In a separate appointment, Maryanne Hasola has taken over leadership of the Audit and Risk Committee. This personnel overhaul represents a clear inflection point in the corporation's committee work.
