Key Dates Approach for RWE Shareholders as Dividend and Buybacks Advance
08.04.2026 - 00:47:55 | boerse-global.de
Shareholders of the energy giant RWE are navigating a schedule of critical corporate events with direct financial implications. The company continues to execute its multi-billion euro share repurchase initiative, while a key deadline for the upcoming Annual General Meeting (AGM) arrives tomorrow.
Capital Return Strategy Takes Center Stage
The focal point of the virtual AGM on April 30, 2026, will be the proposed profit distribution. For the completed 2025 fiscal year, the Supervisory Board has recommended a dividend of €1.20 per share. This proposal is set for a shareholder vote.
To be eligible to vote at that meeting, investors must demonstrate share ownership by the close of business on April 8 (midnight). Selling shares after this record date does not affect voting rights. Looking further ahead, management has already outlined plans to raise the dividend for the 2026 fiscal year to €1.32 per share.
Should investors sell immediately? Or is it worth buying Rwe?
Important Timeline for Investors:
* April 8: Record date for AGM attendance
* April 30: Virtual Annual General Meeting
* May 4: Ex-dividend date
* May 6: Dividend payment date
* May 13: Publication of Q1 2026 financial results
Aggressive Investment and Share Support
RWE's capital allocation strategy is twofold, balancing substantial investments with direct shareholder returns. The ongoing share buyback program, part of a €1.5 billion package scheduled for completion by mid-2026, provides consistent support for the share price. A company release on Tuesday morning showed RWE purchased an additional approximately 290,000 of its own shares between late March and early April.
This return of capital runs parallel to massive operational investments. The group is advancing a €35 billion investment program through 2031. This year alone, its grid subsidiary Amprion is committing a record €7.3 billion. While European renewable energy projects remain a priority, a strategic focus is also on U.S. gas-fired power plants, which are intended to future-proof the energy supply for power-intensive artificial intelligence data centers.
Fundamentally, the leadership anticipates continued growth. Adjusted EBITDA is projected to rise from the targeted 2026 range of €5.2 to €5.8 billion, reaching up to €6.8 billion in the following year.
