Solana sees record on-chain growth and major institutional investment, yet its price remains in oversold territory, highlighting a key market divergence.

While the broader cryptocurrency sector faces headwinds, a series of positive developments are coalescing around Solana. Despite significant institutional investment and robust on-chain activity, the asset's market price has yet to reflect this underlying strength, creating a notable divergence.

On-Chain Metrics and Ecosystem Recovery Signal Strength

The network's fundamental health is demonstrating remarkable resilience. Data from NS3.AI indicates that 1.1 million new addresses were created on the Solana blockchain within a single 24-hour period. Furthermore, Grayscale Investments reported that in February 2026, the network processed a record $650 million in stablecoin transfer volume. According to CoinMarketCap, Solana has now surpassed Ethereum in the number of wallets holding tokenized real-world assets (RWAs), marking a significant milestone in the RWA adoption race.

The ecosystem is also showing signs of consolidation following a setback. The Jito Foundation acquired the data and news platform SolanaFloor on March 9. This platform had gone offline in February after its parent company, Step Finance, ceased operations following a security breach that resulted in a $40 million loss. The Jito Foundation is retaining the existing editorial team, thereby restoring a critical information source for the network.

Major Financial Institutions Build Substantial Exposure

On the institutional front, commitment is growing. Approximately 30 institutional investors currently hold around $540 million in Solana ETF positions, based on data from Bloomberg Intelligence analyst James Seyffart. Electric Capital Partners leads this group with an exposure of roughly $137.8 million, closely followed by Goldman Sachs with about $107.4 million.

Cumulative inflows into spot Solana ETFs have reached $955 million, with $21.5 million added in the current month alone. The combined assets under management for these funds—offered by Bitwise, Grayscale, Fidelity, and VanEck—now total $815 million.

Should investors sell immediately? Or is it worth buying Solana?

Price Action Lags Behind Building Fundamentals

Contrasting this bullish backdrop, SOL's price performance remains subdued. The token is consolidating below a key resistance level of $90. The $80 to $81 zone is viewed as critical support, an area where forced liquidations of leveraged long positions recently occurred. With a Relative Strength Index (RSI) reading of just under 32, Solana is technically in oversold territory and trading well below its key moving averages.

This growing disconnect between institutional demand and price momentum suggests the market is in a transitional phase. Whether increasing integration into traditional finance structures and accelerating RWA adoption can provide the catalyst for a breakout will likely be determined by how the price reacts at the crucial $80-$81 support level.
