Jensen Huang, chief executive of the world’s most valuable technology company, has a singular talent for shifting markets with a few words. This week, a single remark from the Nvidia founder sent shares of chip specialist Marvell Technology soaring by nearly a third — the biggest one-day gain since Marvell listed on the stock exchange in 2000. Yet even as Huang’s endorsement turned heads on Wall Street, his own company’s shares slipped almost three percent on the day, trading at €186.20, a reminder that Nvidia’s operational challenges are as much a talking point as its strategic influence.

The surge in Marvell’s stock followed Huang’s comment at the Computex conference in Taiwan, where he labelled the company the “next trillion-dollar enterprise”. Marvell is now valued at roughly $250 billion, up from $53 billion a year ago. The market reaction underscores how closely investors read Nvidia’s strategic cues — Huang is not merely praising a partner but effectively defining which technologies are essential for the next phase of AI investment. Nvidia deepened its ties with Marvell in late March, committing $2 billion to a joint effort on silicon photonics and custom processors for next-generation AI data centres.

On the production front, Nvidia is running flat out. Huang confirmed in Taipei that supply remains the bottleneck, even after securing additional capacity. The physical delivery of hardware is capping short-term revenue potential. At the same time, the company is expanding its assault on the CPU market with the new Vera processors, directly challenging AMD and Intel. Beyond servers, Nvidia is pushing into physical AI with the Cosmos 3 foundation model, which combines visual logic with action prediction for robotics and autonomous driving. The Alpamayo 2 Super model, featuring 32 billion parameters, targets robotaxi development.

Should investors sell immediately? Or is it worth buying Nvidia?

The financial numbers illustrate the scale of this expansion. Revenue in the most recent quarter jumped 85 percent to $81.6 billion, with the data centre segment contributing $75.2 billion. Management has guided for around $91 billion in sales for the current quarter, while the gross margin remains near 75 percent. Nvidia’s stock has gained roughly 15 percent year to date, but it sits about seven percent above its 50-day moving average and almost nine percent below the record high set in May.

Huang’s platform strategy — positioning Nvidia as the architect of complete AI factories, not just a supplier of GPUs — is gaining traction. The Marvell episode is the latest evidence that Wall Street treats Nvidia’s strategic nods as reliable signposts for the AI infrastructure cycle. Yet the company’s immediate fate hinges on operational execution. Demand for AI infrastructure shows no sign of cooling, but until supply chains ease, production capacity will remain the constraint on near-term revenue growth.
