Goldsky Resources Moves to Full Ownership of Barsele Gold Venture

Goldsky Resources seeks shareholder approval to buy out Agnico Eagle's stake in the Barsele project, aiming for full control by mid-2026 despite recent share price weakness.

Goldsky Resources is advancing plans to assume complete control of the Barsele gold project in Sweden. The company has dispatched materials for an extraordinary general meeting scheduled for April 9, bringing it closer to becoming the sole owner of this exploration asset. This move signifies a pivotal shift from its existing joint venture with Agnico Eagle Mines to independent operational command.

Shareholder Vote to Enable Final Acquisition

The upcoming shareholder meeting will focus on appointing Agnico Eagle as a "Control Person," a specific regulatory classification. This designation is a mandatory prerequisite for Goldsky to proceed with purchasing the remaining 55% stake in the Barsele project that it does not already own. Upon the transaction's anticipated closure in the second quarter of 2026, Agnico Eagle will receive compensation in the form of an approximate 32.5% equity interest in Goldsky Resources, positioning it as a major shareholder.

Company leadership aims to finalize the acquisition no later than June 30, 2026. Achieving this would conclude the period of shared ownership, allowing Goldsky to unilaterally steer the project's strategic development.

Project Scale Contrasts with Share Price Weakness

Spanning roughly 24,980 hectares, the Barsele project is the central component of Goldsky's corporate strategy. The rationale for pursuing full consolidation is underscored by the site's substantial resource base. Current indicated resources are estimated at approximately 320,781 ounces of gold, while inferred resources of about 1.83 million ounces point to significant potential for future expansion.

Despite this asset foundation, the company's shares are currently experiencing pronounced selling pressure. In today's trading, the equity lost over eight percent of its value, with the price settling at 1.58 euros. This decline continues a negative trend observed over the past 30 days, during which the share price has retreated by more than 35 percent.

This weakness mirrors broader sentiment across the gold mining sector. Weighed down by macroeconomic factors and geopolitical tensions, receding expectations for near-term interest rate cuts have particularly impacted speculative exploration companies like Goldsky.

The immediate focus for Goldsky is preparing for the special April meeting. Shareholder approval of the proposed new structure would represent the final formal milestone required to complete the takeover of the Swedish assets.
