From Budget Desks to Designer Systems: The 2026 Ergonomic Workplace Boom

The German market for ergonomic office furniture is undergoing a dramatic expansion in 2026, with offerings now spanning from a €20 basic Ikea table to modular design pieces from Berlin manufacturers and Italian functional furniture. Non-traditional players like discounter Lidl are entering the segment, while specialist retailers bolster their portfolios with high-end European brands.
Discounter Lidl is now offering the electrically height-adjustable “Office Stand” desk under its JUSKYS brand. At the same time, online retailer Desktronic is running promotions in July with vouchers worth up to 40 percent off – including on the HomePro model. A sharp contrast comes from the Nuremberg-based retailer Raum & Form Seidel GmbH, which has significantly upgraded its design platform Design-Kiste.de. As of July 14, it offers modular furniture systems from the Berlin manufacturer System 180 – shelving, sideboards, table systems, mobile folding tables and reception counters that can be custom-planned. Just a day earlier, the company added the Spanish brand Punt, founded in Valencia in 1980 and known for its award-winning Stockholm collection of sideboards, tables and seating with architectural lines. Also available since July 14 are products from the Italian brand Sculptures Jeux (founded 1973), including the rotating storage unit Giralot and multifunctional tables. Another new addition: convertible tables from Altacom that flexibly serve as couch tables or dining tables.
Ikea remains a major player, offering desks from the basic TORALD model at €20 up to the electric MITTZON at €399. Height-adjustable models range between 65 and 85 centimetres. Members of the Swedish retailer’s loyalty programme receive up to 25 percent discount on gaming products. Independent tests in 2026 also rated di volio models highly. The Amone, Biago and Rapalo series, along with corner desks Montaro and Trani, adjust from 70.5 to 118.5 centimetres, support up to 80 kilograms, and feature memory storage and integrated cable management.
Ergonomic seating is gaining equal attention. Sihoo’s Doro C300 Pro V2 office chair offers adaptive lumbar support and 8D armrests, carrying up to 150 kilograms – available at reduced prices until July 22. In the gaming segment, Razer launched a new collection on July 14 in collaboration with Kuro Games, including the ergonomic Iskur V2 X chair and specialised keyboard and mouse models. Backforce competes with its One Plus model.
Lighting completes the perfect workstation. Xiaomi began crowdfunding in mid-July for the Mijia Monitor Light Bar 2 in China. The device uses 108 full-spectrum LEDs and an asymmetric lens to prevent glare. A German market launch is expected in late summer 2026. Meanwhile, for mobile gaming, Lenovo announced the Legion C700 cloud-gaming handheld for August 2026, developed in cooperation with Tencent START.
