Fintechwerx's AI Platform Gets a Campus Test as Revenue Dries Up

Canadian micro-cap Fintechwerx sees revenue plunge 87% to CA$20,000 as it bets on academic partnerships and credit union deals to turn around its AI analytics platform.

The gap between product development and commercial reality at Fintechwerx International is widening, and the coming weeks will determine whether the Canadian micro-cap can close it.

On May 22, student teams from the British Columbia Institute of Technology will present their recommendations for enhancing AI-Werx, the company's flagship analytics platform. Eight students from BCIT's business-IT program have spent ten weeks conducting gap analyses and identifying optimization opportunities in predictive analytics, onboarding automation, and fraud detection. The presentation comes just ahead of Fintechwerx's appearance at the Web Summit Vancouver.

The academic partnership represents one of several near-term catalysts for a company whose financials tell a starkly different story from its strategic ambitions.

Revenue Collapse

Fintechwerx generated just CA$20,000 in its latest fiscal year — an 87% plunge from the prior period. Operating losses widened to CA$770,000, underscoring the distance between the company's platform vision and its ability to monetize it.

The stock reflects the strain. Shares last traded at CA$0.84, roughly 15% below where they stood a month ago. At the start of 2026, the stock was changing hands at around CA$5.00; the all-time high of CA$5.95 came in July 2025. The current price sits 64% below its 200-day moving average, with the company's market capitalization shrinking to approximately CA$32 million.

AI-Werx Takes Its Pitch to Credit Unions

The core product, AI-Werx, aggregates financial data, operational metrics, and external sources with a focus on small and medium-sized business lending. Features include member segmentation, predictive modeling, and a voice interface for database queries. A proof of concept delivered in January 2026 with partner ActioHX produced a functional prototype with live dashboards and automated reporting.

CEO George Hofsink has been positioning the platform as a solution for credit unions looking to modernize their IT infrastructure while preserving personalized member service. The company showcased AI-Werx at the CGI Credit Union Technology Forum in Vancouver in late April, presenting to an audience from the credit union sector. The market response was muted — the stock traded in a tight CA$0.86 to CA$0.88 range during conference week on unremarkable volume.

A European Bet

Beyond the campus and conference circuit, Fintechwerx is pursuing a strategic investment. The company has signed a letter of intent for a stake in a Gibraltar-regulated payments provider, with cross-border interoperability as the stated goal. The transaction would add a payments infrastructure component to the company's existing analytics offering.

The August Test

The next hard financial checkpoint comes in August with the quarterly report. By then, management must demonstrate that conference appearances and academic collaborations are translating into signed contracts and measurable transaction volumes. If not, the distance between platform promises and business reality will become even harder to explain to investors who have already watched the stock shed more than 80% of its value this year.
