European Space Funding Fuels Optimism for OHB SE
24.03.2026 - 03:45:38 | boerse-global.deOHB SE, the Bremen-based aerospace and technology group, has delivered a robust set of financial results for 2025, supported by a record order backlog and significant new contracts. The company’s momentum is further bolstered by substantial budgetary commitments from European institutions, setting a clear growth trajectory for the coming years.
Financial Performance Exceeds Expectations
Reporting on March 19, OHB announced that its total revenue advanced by 21 percent to reach €1.25 billion for the year. Adjusted EBITDA climbed to €125.6 million, with adjusted EBIT rising to €84.0 million, demonstrating solid year-on-year growth. A key highlight was the record order intake of €2.08 billion, which propelled the order backlog to €3.19 billion by year-end. The company’s dividend will be maintained at €0.60 per share.
Strategic Contracts Signal Market Strength
The financial update was preceded by a major contract announcement from OHB Sweden. The subsidiary secured a €248 million agreement with the European Space Agency (ESA) to build 20 small satellites for the EPS-Sterna mission, dedicated to Arctic weather observation. This landmark deal represents the largest satellite construction contract ever awarded within Sweden’s space sector. Its foundation was the successful and rapid development of the Arctic Weather Satellite Demonstrator by OHB Sweden. Furthermore, OHB’s role as prime contractor for the highly complex LISA scientific mission underscores its technical capabilities.

Institutional Support Creates Favorable Backdrop
The broader political and budgetary environment in Europe is providing significant tailwinds. In November 2025, the ESA approved a record budget of €22.3 billion for the 2026-2028 period. Concurrently, the European Union has outlined plans to invest €131 billion in resilience, defense, and space initiatives for its next budgetary cycle. On a national level, Germany intends to commit an additional €35 billion to military space infrastructure.
In response to this supportive landscape, OHB’s management has already raised its forecasts for 2026 and 2027. The company is targeting total revenue exceeding €2 billion by 2028, with a medium-term goal of achieving annual order intake of approximately €3 billion. Ongoing discussions with Rheinmetall and Airbus concerning potential collaboration on the German Bundeswehr’s SATCOMBw Stage 4 project could provide additional acceleration to this growth plan.
