Element 29 Resources Clears Key Hurdle for Peruvian Copper Exploration

Element 29 Resources secures key environmental permit for its Paka copper project in Peru, advancing toward 2026 drilling as exploration continues at Elida.

Element 29 Resources has achieved a significant regulatory milestone for its operations in Peru. The company’s Paka project has received its Environmental Certification, bringing planned exploration work a major step closer to commencement. This progress occurs as drilling is already underway at a separate site, raising questions about the company's ability to meet its ambitious 2026 timeline.

Regulatory Green Light for Paka

The Peruvian Ministry of Energy and Mines (MINEM) has granted the five-year Environmental Certification, known as a DIA, for the Paka project. This authorization permits the construction of up to 40 drilling platforms. With this approval secured, the company can now apply for the final drilling permit (PIA). Only upon receipt of the PIA can drilling equipment be mobilized to the Paka site.

Concurrent Activity at Elida

While Paka advances through the regulatory process, operational activity is in full swing at the Elida project. Two drill rigs are currently active there. As of the end of January, five drill holes had been completed, totaling over 4,700 meters in depth.

To finish the current 7,000-meter program as scheduled by the end of Q1 2026, crews on the ground must complete approximately 2,300 additional meters. In parallel, management is preparing a new drilling application for Elida, which also proposes 40 platforms over a five-year term.

Roadmap Toward 2026 Objectives

The company's plans for the coming months are clearly defined. Following the anticipated permit approvals, a follow-up 5,000-meter program is slated to begin at Elida in the first half of 2026. Subsequently, in the second quarter of 2026, initial metallurgical testing will commence to more precisely determine ore quality.

Element 29 Resources will present its latest exploration data starting March 1 at the PDAC mining convention in Toronto. This will offer investors further insight into the operational execution of its parallel-running projects.
