DWS Sets Course for Major Capital Return to Shareholders
14.03.2026 - 06:38:15 | boerse-global.deThe DWS Group has reported a record-breaking performance for the 2025 financial year, setting the stage for a substantial capital return program. As assets under management surged past the one trillion euro threshold for the first time, the asset manager's leadership is now focusing on enhancing long-term shareholder value through a significant distribution.
Revised Targets and a Landmark Payout
Looking ahead, management has outlined ambitious medium-term goals. The strategy hinges on boosting profitability and expanding the product offering, including growth in infrastructure investments and new passively managed funds such as the Xtrackers Europe Market Leaders ETF.
Key objectives through 2028 include:
* Earnings per share growth: Targeting 10 to 15 percent annually.
* Cost-income ratio: A reduction to below 55 percent by 2027.
* Special dividend: A planned distribution of approximately 1 billion euros in 2027.
This special dividend forms the centerpiece of a capital return initiative aimed at deploying excess capital. For the immediate term, shareholders are set to benefit from a proposed regular dividend of 3.00 euros per share, following a year of robust financials.
Operational Strength Drives Record Profit
The foundation for these plans was laid by a powerful operational performance. Net profit for the year jumped 43 percent to 927 million euros. This surge was driven by solid net inflows across all regions and disciplined cost management, which pushed the cost-income ratio down to 58 percent.
Should investors sell immediately? Or is it worth buying DWS?
Despite these strong fundamentals, the share price has faced recent pressure. Closing at 54.35 euros on Friday, the stock has declined roughly 8.5 percent over the past 30 days. This places it near the technically significant 200-day moving average of 54.24 euros, a level market observers often watch for indications of long-term trend direction.
Strategic Diversification Underway
DWS is actively diversifying its portfolio to support its growth ambitions. Recent strategic moves include the acquisition of the Finnish wind farm "Maaselänkangas" and continued expansion within the ETF segment. The company's progress toward its ambitious efficiency goals will be closely tracked through the evolution of its cost-income ratio in the lead-up to the 2027 target year.
