DroneShield Wins $19.3M US Contract, Shares Continue Decline

DroneShield won another meaningful contract from the US defence apparatus this week, yet the market response was anything but celebratory. The Australian counter-drone specialist announced a new agreement with the U.S. Joint Interagency Task Force 401 worth 19.3 million Australian dollars, with options that could lift the total to 24.9 million over five years. But instead of stabilising, the shares accelerated their recent slide.

The stock closed Friday at €1.78, shedding 3.45% on the day and capping a weekly loss of 12.75%. Over the past 30 sessions, the equity has given up 23.49%, while the year-to-date deficit now stands at 10.37%. The contract news, which encompassed mobile and stationary drone-defence systems along with hardware, subscriptions, warranties and service deliveries slated for 2026 and 2027, simply wasn’t enough to shift the selling momentum.

Technically, the picture is getting more precarious by the session. DroneShield’s shares now trade 16.44% below the 50-day moving average of €2.13, and also sit well under both the 200-day line at €2.07 and the 100-day average at €2.17. That cluster of moving averages has formed a tight resistance zone between €2.07 and €2.17. Until the price can reclaim that band, any bounce is likely to be sold into.

On a 14-day basis, the relative strength index sits at 36.1, indicating weak momentum but stopping short of an oversold condition. There is room for a technical recovery, but no buy signal yet. A sustained move back above the first key average would be needed to flip the near-term narrative.

Should investors sell immediately? Or is it worth buying DroneShield?

Despite the ugly short-term chart, the longer view still shows substantial gains. Over the past twelve months, DroneShield remains up 81.46%. However, the stock is now 51.26% below its 52-week high of €3.65 set on 6 October 2025. At the other end, the 52-week low of €0.82 from 21 November 2025 means the current price is still 115.86% above that trough — a reminder of just how wide the trading range has been.

Fundamentally, the company continues to build its pipeline beyond the JIATF-401 deal. DroneShield is involved in a low-altitude surveillance project in Kansas City tied to the 2026 FIFA World Cup. Working with the Kansas City Police Department, Airspace Link and other partners, it will provide detection-and-response capabilities including RF sensing and drone-defence integration. The FAA has imposed temporary flight restrictions around World Cup stadiums, including Kansas City’s Arrowhead Stadium, with match dates in June and July that will see drone bans within a 3-nautical-mile radius up to 3,000 feet.

Europe is also part of the growth story. DroneShield is pushing a supply-chain initiative in Germany aimed at building resilient capacity for the European counter-drone market. The focus is on finding local partners for manufacturing, electronics, systems integration, testing and maintenance. The selection process will proceed gradually based on capability, scalability and regulatory fit.

DroneShield at a turning point? This analysis reveals what investors need to know now.

For now, though, the market is watching the charts. The annualised 30-day volatility of 54.36% means sharp moves in either direction remain likely. The immediate line in the sand is €1.78. If that level holds, DroneShield could attempt a base-building phase. If it fails, the path of least resistance remains lower until the price can climb back above €2.07 — a level that currently marks the difference between a corrective bounce and a genuine trend shift.
