Deutsche Telekom Surpasses Forecasts and Sets Aggressive New Targets
01.03.2026 - 00:13:30 | boerse-global.deThe company once considered a staid "blue chip" has firmly shed its conservative image. Deutsche Telekom's full-year 2025 results, released on Thursday, did more than just meet internal targets; they delivered a positive surprise to the market, accompanied by a confident outlook for the future. While shareholders are set to benefit from substantial capital returns, the underlying operational drivers provide the real story.
Confident Guidance and Shareholder Rewards Take Center Stage
Management has expressed strong confidence with an ambitious forecast for the current fiscal year. For 2026, the company is targeting adjusted earnings per share of approximately €2.20. This represents projected growth of ten percent—a pace that exceeded most analyst expectations.
This operational strength is being channeled directly to investors. The dividend is slated to rise to a record €1.00 per share. This increase will be complemented by a share buyback program authorized for up to €2 billion in 2026, with initial tranches already acquired in January and February of this year.
The capital markets have responded favorably to this comprehensive performance. The share price closed at €33.95 on Friday, marking a daily gain of 2.79 percent. Since the start of the year, the stock has achieved an impressive advance of roughly 21.8 percent, trading well above its 50-day moving average of €29.26.
Operational Engines: U.S. Strength and Fiber Momentum
The primary profit driver continues to be the U.S. subsidiary, T-Mobile US. Deutsche Telekom's increase of its stake to 52.8% in February secures full access to the robust cash flows from this overseas operation. These funds provide the financial backbone for substantial investments in its home market.
Should investors sell immediately? Or is it worth buying Deutsche Telekom?
The domestic business in Germany is also contributing positively. The massive investment in fiber-optic infrastructure is beginning to show tangible results: with over two million active FTTH customers for the first time and rising revenues in the domestic segment, the strategy is proving its worth. Furthermore, the company's European subsidiaries reported organic earnings growth for a 32nd consecutive quarter.
Record Financials Underpin the Strategy
The 2025 fiscal year proved exceptionally successful for Deutsche Telekom. Organic revenue climbed by 4.2 percent to €119.1 billion, while adjusted EBITDA (EBITDA AL) increased to €44.2 billion. These figures surpassed the company's own upgraded guidance from November. Another highlight for investors was the generation of €19.5 billion in free cash flow.
The company has successfully balanced its defensive characteristics with dynamic growth. The next key date for the dividend strategy is set for the Annual General Meeting on April 1, 2026. Should Deutsche Telekom maintain its announced growth trajectory in the coming quarters, a challenge of its recent 52-week high of €35.78 appears to be merely a question of timing.
