Deutsche Telekom Surpasses Expectations and Boosts Shareholder Returns
28.02.2026 - 00:13:14 | boerse-global.de
Deutsche Telekom has delivered a robust set of preliminary figures for 2025, exceeding its own forecasts and signaling a substantial dividend increase for investors. The performance raises questions about whether momentum from its U.S. operations can sustain the positive trajectory throughout the current year.
Shareholders Set for Higher Payouts
Reflecting the company's operational strength, the management and supervisory boards will propose a dividend of 1.00 Euro per share at the upcoming Annual General Meeting. This represents an 11 percent increase compared to the previous year. This enhanced distribution is complemented by the continuation of the existing share buyback program, a move typically aimed at providing support for the equity price.
The market responded immediately to the announcements. Shares advanced by 2.79 percent to 33.95 Euros, underscoring their current strength. Since the start of the year, the stock has already recorded a gain of approximately 21 percent. Analysts are adjusting their views in response; DZ Bank raised its price target from 38 to 39 Euros, citing the strong results and an optimistic outlook for 2026.
U.S. Operations Fuel Growth
The primary engine for growth continues to be located in the United States. Subsidiary T-Mobile US once again reported powerful metrics, driving group organic revenue up by 4.2 percent to 119.1 billion Euros. The adjusted EBITDA AL, a key profitability measure for telecom firms, also saw organic growth of 4.7 percent, reaching 44.2 billion Euros. While currency effects from a strong Euro slightly dampened the reported figures, the core operational business remains solid. As customer growth thrives in the U.S., the focus in the German home market persists on the capital-intensive expansion of the fiber-optic network.

Sector-Wide Sentiment Provides a Tailwind
Beyond its own solid fundamentals, Deutsche Telekom is currently benefiting from a wave of positive sentiment across the telecommunications sector. Market speculation, fueled by takeover rumors surrounding Telefónica and United Internet's subsidiary 1&1, is lending support to competitors as well.
Attention now turns to the Annual General Meeting scheduled for April 1, 2026, in Bonn. The event will not only finalize the dividend decision but also offer detailed explanations of the strategic course for the ongoing fiscal year. With the share price trading only about 5 percent below its 52-week high, the momentum remains firmly with buyers for the time being.
