A routine dividend adjustment has applied noticeable downward pressure to Deutsche Telekom's stock chart. As near-term investors secure profits, company leadership is initiating the next phase of its ongoing share repurchase initiative to provide a counterbalance.

The stock's decline to a new four-week low is viewed by market observers as a technical signal that prompted short-term selling activity. Trading concluded on Friday with shares at €30.76, marking a weekly loss of 2.69 percent. This movement was sufficient to push the equity below the closely-watched 50-day moving average, situated at €31.58. The visual price drop was triggered by the dividend adjustment of €1.00 per share, which took effect on April 2.

Share Buyback Serves as Stabilizing Force

To mitigate the corrective phase, the company launched the second tranche of its current share buyback program concurrently with the dividend ex-date. A maximum volume of €550 million will now be allocated to repurchasing its own securities through the end of June. This consistent source of demand is acting as a stabilizing element during the current period of weakness. The group had already acquired approximately 15.6 million of its own shares for €471.3 million during the first quarter.

Underlying Business Outlook Remains Firm

Beyond short-term chart dynamics, the fundamental operating environment remains solid. Management is targeting an adjusted EBITDA of €47.4 billion for the 2026 financial year, alongside a projected rise in free cash flow to €19.8 billion. Fresh fundamental catalysts are expected on May 13, 2026, when the company will release its first-quarter financial results. Investor focus will likely center on the performance of its U.S. operations and advancements in the domestic fiber-optic network expansion.
