As the annual shareholder meeting on April 1, 2026, approaches, Deutsche Telekom is poised to present a compelling case to its investors. The Bonn-based telecommunications giant is backing its strong annual performance with a proposed dividend that would set a new company record. A modest share price decline at the week's close does little to overshadow this fundamentally positive outlook.

Strong Fundamentals Support Increased Distribution

The cornerstone of the upcoming meeting is a pivotal vote on capital allocation. For the concluded fiscal year, the board is proposing a distribution of €1.00 per share. This represents an 11 percent increase compared to the previous year and, if approved, will be the highest payout in the corporation's history.

This generous proposal is underpinned by robust operational results. In 2025, the group achieved organic revenue growth of 4.2 percent, bringing total revenue to €119.1 billion. Furthermore, the adjusted operating result (EBITDA AL) for the fourth quarter exceeded analyst forecasts, reaching €10.8 billion. Concurrently, an ongoing share buyback program provides additional support for the equity; the first tranche, valued at over €550 million, is scheduled for completion as planned by the end of March.

Market Confidence Endures Despite Weekly Dip

While investors exhibited some caution in recent trading sessions, the broader analyst sentiment remains optimistic. Shares closed at €31.41 on Friday, a decline of 2.30 percent in line with a softer overall market. Such near-term volatility, however, scarcely dims the longer-term performance, which still shows a solid year-to-date gain of 12.70 percent.

Should investors sell immediately? Or is it worth buying Deutsche Telekom?

This confidence is widely shared among market experts. Barclays Investment Bank recently reaffirmed its buy rating, maintaining a price target of €39.50 per share. The strategists cited the sustained service revenue growth from the U.S. subsidiary, T-Mobile, alongside a stable regulatory environment for the European telecoms sector as key justifications for their bullish stance.

Following the April 1st vote on profit allocation, attention will swiftly return to operational performance. Deutsche Telekom is scheduled to release its first-quarter 2026 figures on May 13. Investors will be scrutinizing this report for specific progress in cloud revenue streams and further margin improvements.
