Deutsche Telekom's Dual Strategy: Price Hikes and AI Ambitions
04.04.2026 - 07:53:24 | boerse-global.deAs Deutsche Telekom moves into the second quarter of 2026, the company is sending a mixed message to its customer base. On one hand, it is implementing price increases for certain legacy services. Concurrently, it is unveiling a new artificial intelligence product aimed at redefining the customer experience. These simultaneous moves highlight a strategy of managing current revenue streams while investing in future technological frontiers.
Legacy DSL Customers Face Higher Bills
Effective April 1, subscribers to older MagentaZuhause and Call & Surf plans—those contracted before April 2023—are seeing their monthly fees rise. The increase amounts to two euros. For example, the MagentaZuhause L plan with 100 Mbit/s now costs 46.95 euros, up from 44.95 euros. The telecom giant cites increased operational and service costs as the reason, while confirming that the service specifications for these plans remain unchanged.
A separate adjustment affects paid MultiSIM cards. Their monthly fee is rising from 4.95 euros to 6.95 euros, a change applying equally to new and existing customers. Households or individuals using multiple additional SIMs will feel a more pronounced financial impact. It is noted that pure fiber-optic tariffs are exempt from the DSL-related increase, and business clients are not subject to the MultiSIM fee change.
Customers impacted by these adjustments have received a special termination right. They may cancel their contracts without observing the standard notice period within three months of receiving the formal notification letter. Failure to act constitutes implicit acceptance of the new terms.

Artificial Intelligence Enters the Call
In a contrasting development, Deutsche Telekom is aggressively pursuing its AI roadmap. The company, in collaboration with voice AI specialist ElevenLabs, has developed the Magenta AI Call Assistant. The tool was first showcased as a global premiere at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona.
This system integrates directly into live phone conversations via the voice command "Hey Magenta," requiring no separate app or hardware. Promised features include real-time translation, conversation summaries, and context-aware support. A rollout in the German market is scheduled for later in 2026, with plans to eventually support up to 50 languages. The system is designed to notify all parties on a call when the AI assistant is active.
Solid Financials Amid Technical Stock Movement
The company's operational foundation appears robust. For the 2025 fiscal year, Deutsche Telekom reported organic group revenue growth of 4.2%, reaching over 119 billion euros. Its adjusted EBITDA AL also increased to more than 44.2 billion euros. Management has reaffirmed its growth guidance for 2026.
Deutsche Telekom at a turning point? This analysis reveals what investors need to know now.
On the trading floor, the share price closed at 30.76 euros this past Friday, representing a decline of nearly four percent. Market experts largely attribute this drop to the regular dividend adjustment following the April 2nd ex-dividend date. The payout itself, set at 1.00 euro per share, marks an 11% year-over-year increase and a company record. Shareholders of record will receive this dividend on April 8. Consequently, analysts view the share price movement as a technical correction rather than a shift in fundamental outlook. Investors will gain further insight when the Q1 2026 results are published on May 13, which may reveal early effects of the new pricing strategy on revenue.
