Deutsche Telekom is splitting its attention this summer between two very different growth levers: an all?out network upgrade for festival?goers and a deepening push into sovereign cloud services for corporate clients. While the share price remains roughly 15% below its February high, both initiatives underscore the company’s effort to keep momentum alive across consumer and business segments.

The festival campaign is the most visible. Telekom is deploying more than 50 temporary mobile sites across Germany’s major music events, with the largest concentration heading to Parookaville in Weeze, which will receive 15 mobile base stations. Wacken Open Air gets ten, while Hurricane, Southside, Nature One and Glücksgefühle Festival each get seven. Rock am Ring and Rock im Park, kicking off the season from June 5 to 7, will each be served by five extra stations. For the first time, the company is using dual?band multibeam antennas in regular operation – technology that splits radio cells into multiple independent sectors and frequency bands to maintain stable speeds even under extreme load. The approach was successfully trialled at Glücksgefühle in 2025.

The scale of demand is evident from last year’s data: Wacken alone pushed 192,000 gigabytes through Telekom’s network over the festival weekend, with roughly half of that traffic already over 5G – a record. Rock am Ring generated 141,000 gigabytes, Parookaville nearly 110,000. To keep casual users happy and drive loyalty, Telekom is offering free unlimited data passes at Rock am Ring, Hurricane, splash!, Lollapalooza Berlin and Wacken, turning each festival into a live marketing channel.

On the enterprise front, T?Systems has signed a strategic partnership with the Scheer Group. The deal gives clients access to Scheer PAS, an agentic process orchestration platform, running on both the T Cloud Public and the Industrial?AI?Cloud infrastructure in Munich. Scheer IDS will also contribute business?process consulting expertise, especially in SAP environments. Telekom highlights sovereign AI and data services as the key differentiator, pitching the T Cloud as a European alternative to the global hyperscalers. No financial terms were disclosed.

Should investors sell immediately? Or is it worth buying Deutsche Telekom?

The cloud?and?AI push aligns with a solid performance from T?Systems in the first quarter. Organic order intake rose 3.6% year?on?year to €994 million, while system?business revenue grew 2.1% to €1.0 billion. The adjusted EBITDA AL tacked on 4.0% to reach €84 million.

On the consumer side, Telekom is simultaneously winding down an old service: MMS will be permanently switched off on June 30. The company recommends RCS, already built into modern smartphones, as a replacement, noting that messaging apps have long superseded the legacy format.

Group?level finances remain robust. Telekom raised its full?year 2026 target for adjusted EBITDA AL to around €47.5 billion, while first?quarter adjusted net profit climbed 6.5% to €2.6 billion. Free cash flow is forecast at more than €19.8 billion. The shares, which traded at €28.75 in mid?May, were recently seen at €28.80, still roughly 15% below the 52?week high of €33.95 set in February. Over the past 30 days, however, the stock has gained about 6%, suggesting some investor confidence in the dual strategy.

Deutsche Telekom at a turning point? This analysis reveals what investors need to know now.

The next major test for T?Systems’ trajectory comes on August 6, when Telekom reports second?quarter results. The key question will be whether order intake at the enterprise arm can sustain the momentum built in the first quarter – a crucial indicator for the digital?sovereignty narrative that underpins the Scheer partnership.
