Deutsche Telekom has outlined a multi-faceted strategic update, combining robust financial targets for the coming years with a groundbreaking technological partnership. The company's vision extends beyond its core operations, aiming to fuel growth through new initiatives like satellite connectivity and deeper AI integration.

Financial Performance and 2026 Outlook: Confidence on Display

The telecommunications giant reported strong results for 2025, setting the stage for an ambitious year ahead. Group revenue reached 119.1 billion euros, reflecting organic growth of 4.2%. Adjusted EBITDA AL climbed to 44.2 billion euros, a 4.7% organic increase.

Once again, T-Mobile US proved to be the primary growth engine. The US subsidiary, in which Deutsche Telekom holds a majority stake, saw revenue rise 4.1%, with service revenue jumping 7.8% and operating profit advancing nearly 7%.

The domestic German market presented a more nuanced picture. While total revenue saw a slight decline of 0.4% to 25.6 billion euros, largely due to lower equipment sales, service revenue organically grew by 1.1%. The adjusted operating result in Germany improved 1.7% to 10.7 billion euros.

Looking forward, management's guidance for 2026 signals strong confidence. The company forecasts adjusted EBITDA AL of approximately 47.4 billion euros, representing growth of roughly 7%. Free Cash Flow AL is projected at around 19.8 billion euros, with adjusted earnings per share expected to be about 2.20 euros, a currency-adjusted increase of approximately 10%.

Shareholder Returns and Strategic Moves

In line with its solid performance, the board will propose a dividend of 1.00 euro per share for 2025, an 11% increase. The payment is scheduled for April 8. Furthermore, the group plans share buybacks of up to 2 billion euros in 2026. As part of its ongoing program, 1,140,238 shares were repurchased by the end of February 2026.

A significant strategic move was the increase of Deutsche Telekom's stake in T-Mobile US to 52.8% in February. The company has stated it does not intend to sell any shares in 2026, underscoring its commitment to this key asset.

Bridging the Connectivity Gap: The Starlink Partnership

A major announcement came from the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, where Deutsche Telekom revealed a cooperation with SpaceX's Starlink. The project aims to launch a satellite-based mobile service across ten European countries by spring 2028.

Should investors sell immediately? Or is it worth buying Deutsche Telekom?

This initiative targets regions where traditional network expansion is challenging due to factors like environmental regulations or difficult terrain. The technology, known as Direct-to-Cell/Direct-to-Device, will allow compatible smartphones to connect directly to Starlink satellites without additional hardware. Devices would automatically switch to the satellite network when terrestrial coverage is lost. The venture could potentially reach over 140 million subscribers within the Telekom footprint. This follows a similar existing collaboration between T-Mobile US and Starlink in the United States.

Infrastructure and Innovation: Fiber and AI

The company continues to push its fiber-optic expansion, adding 2.5 million new connections in 2025. This brings total coverage to 12.6 million households, with a target of reaching at least 25 million by 2030. In Germany, the number of FTTH (Fiber-to-the-Home) customers has now surpassed 2 million.

Artificial intelligence is being systematically integrated into network management, customer service, and product development. At the MWC, Deutsche Telekom introduced the Magenta AI Call Assistant, developed with ElevenLabs. The company emphasized that the tool is only activated upon explicit customer consent.

Market Reaction and Upcoming Milestones

At the week's close, Deutsche Telekom shares traded at 32.77 euros, down 0.76% on the day. However, the stock has gained 8.22% over the past 30 days and is up 17.58% since the start of the year.

Investors will be watching two key upcoming events: the Annual General Meeting on April 1, 2026, and the release of Q1 figures on May 13, 2026. These dates will provide early indicators of the company's progress toward its ambitious 2026 goals.
