The company's forward-looking bookings provide a significant source of optimism, even as its path to profitability remains clouded by substantial costs.

Revenue Soars, But Losses Deepen

The company's top-line performance was undeniably strong. Annual revenue surged by 179% to $24.6 million, a dramatic increase from the $8.83 million reported the previous year. This growth was primarily fueled by high-margin system sales, driving the GAAP gross profit up by 265% to $20.3 million. The gross margin for the year exceeded 80%. In the fourth quarter alone, revenue reached $2.75 million, compared to $2.31 million in the same period a year earlier.

Despite this impressive revenue climb, D-Wave's bottom line tells a different story. The net loss for 2025 stood at a substantial $355 million. Furthermore, management anticipates that operational expenses will rise in 2026, intensifying scrutiny on the timeline for achieving profitability.

Strategic Moves and Government Focus

A major strategic development was the completion of the acquisition of Quantum Circuits Inc. The deal, valued at $550 million, was structured with $300 million in D-Wave stock and $250 million in cash. D-Wave highlights that Quantum Circuits contributes "Erasure Detection" technology, said to identify 90% of occurring errors, alongside gate fidelities exceeding 99.9%.

Concurrently, D-Wave is bolstering its public sector initiatives. A new business unit, led by Jack Sears Jr., has been established to drive adoption within the U.S. government. Bookings Momentum Offers a Glimpse of the Future

Since the start of 2026, and as of February 25, bookings have already surpassed $32.8 million. This figure includes two significant deals announced after the quarter closed: a $20 million system order from Florida Atlantic University, with delivery planned by the end of 2026, and a two-year, $10 million Quantum Computing as a Service (QCaaS) contract with a Fortune 100 company.

Booking momentum was also strong in Q4 2025, reaching $13.4 million—a figure the company notes was significantly higher than the preceding quarter. D-Wave ended the year with record liquidity and a customer base of over 135 paying clients, citing recent activity with LG CNS, Sharp, and Italy's CINECA involving both new and extended agreements.

Market and Analyst Response

Investors reacted positively to the mixed report. D-Wave's stock closed Thursday's session up 2.4% at $20.13 and extended gains in after-hours trading. Trading volume was notably high at 43.71 million shares, well above the average of 23.19 million.

Analyst opinions reflected the company's dual narrative. Roth Capital reduced its price target to $30 from $40, while Jefferies reaffirmed its "Buy" rating on the shares.
