A complete coworking space went under the hammer in Potsdam early June, offering everything from height-adjustable desks and designer office chairs to acoustic cabins, touchscreens, sound systems, and leisure-area fixtures. The auction reflects a secondary market that is gathering momentum as companies and freelancers alike seek high-quality workplace equipment without paying full retail.

Such sales give businesses access to ergonomic furnishings that would otherwise strain budgets. The Potsdam lot showcased the growing pull of holistic workplace concepts—mixing health-focused furniture with tech and relaxation elements.

The New-Gear Benchmark

On the primary market, the Desktopia Pro X from Ergotopia continues to set the standard for electric height-adjustable desks. Its entry price is around €649, with a suggested retail of €699. Customer reviews averaging 4.90 out of 5 across more than 1,000 ratings underscore its stronghold in the segment.

Yet manufacturers are branching into specialized territory. TPS Elektronik recently introduced laboratory tables compliant with IEC 61340-5-1. These ESD-protected models are built for heavy loads: the Fixed-1260 variant can support up to 500 kilograms, straddling the line between office ergonomics and industrial resilience.

Precision Desks for Gaming and Tight Spaces

Gaming desks form another fast-growing slice of the market. LeetDesk is pushing millimetre-level control via keypads with three programmable height positions and rubberised pressure points. Seamless ABS edges come in colours such as Shadow Black and Leet Orange; custom shades are available from ten units onward.

Compact electric desks are also gaining ground. Ochama and SONGMICS offer models with a lifting range of 72.1 to 120.1 centimetres, a load capacity of 70 kilograms, and four memory slots. For cramped rooms, versions as small as 80 by 50 centimetres are sold.

Software Moves In

Hardware improvements are being matched by software initiatives. Early June saw the release of version 1.0 of Euro-Office, an open-source suite developed by a consortium of IONOS and Nextcloud. The project aims to establish a European alternative for document editing.

Integration with Nextcloud is already live, while full embedding into IONOS systems is scheduled for late summer 2026. The goal is seamless use at a modern, ergonomic workstation—adding a digital layer to the physical desk boom.
