A potent combination of surging demand for AI network infrastructure and a fresh product offensive has lifted Nokia's stock to levels few anticipated just months ago. The Finnish telecom equipment maker is benefiting from a powerful external tailwind – a sharply upgraded forecast from Cisco – while simultaneously unveiling its own push into autonomous network management.

The shares struck a new 52-week peak of €13.32 on Thursday, closing the session 5.71% higher. Since the start of the year, the gain has ballooned to a staggering 139.22%, a rally that signals far more than a routine recovery. The stock now trades at more than double its 200-day moving average, which stands at €5.97.

Cisco Raises the Bar for AI Infrastructure

The immediate catalyst was Cisco's quarterly report, which sent a powerful signal across the networking sector. The US giant posted a 12% revenue increase to $15.84 billion, with its networking division growing a particularly robust 25%. More critically, Cisco lifted its expectations for AI infrastructure orders from $5 billion to $9 billion.

That revision matters directly for Nokia because routers, switches and high-capacity transport networks are essential building blocks for AI data centers and cloud connectivity. As enterprises and network operators ramp up their AI capabilities, the demand for reliable, fast and programmable networks grows in lockstep. Nokia's exposure extends beyond traditional telecom customers; cloud-adjacent infrastructure is becoming an increasingly important revenue stream.

Should investors sell immediately? Or is it worth buying Nokia?

Autonomous AI Agents for Fixed Networks

On the product side, Nokia introduced a suite of Agentic AI capabilities for its fixed-network portfolio, including the Altiplano, Corteca and Broadband Easy platforms. These systems are designed to go beyond simple monitoring and alerting, instead autonomously diagnosing issues, identifying root causes and executing operational workflows.

The technology draws on experience from more than 600 million broadband connections already deployed worldwide. For carriers struggling with the complexity of fiber rollouts and rising data traffic, the efficiency promises are bold: more than 50% of helpdesk calls resolved at first contact, network anomalies qualified within five minutes, and a roughly 50% reduction in repeat on-site technician visits.

Those are not merely aspirational metrics. Nokia is positioning the offering as a concrete solution to a persistent cost problem in telecom operations, where manual fault-finding and truck rolls eat into capital and personnel budgets. The broader market is already allocating funds to this area: investments in agentic AI for network operations are expected to reach approximately $6.2 billion by 2030.

Analyst Targets Climb as Nokia's Own Forecasts Rise

The market's re-rating is reflected in a flurry of analyst upgrades. JPMorgan recently raised its price target to €12.00, Argus sees the stock at $15.00, and Jefferies has set a target of €14.20. The wide range underscores how rapidly expectations have shifted.

Nokia at a turning point? This analysis reveals what investors need to know now.

Nokia itself has lifted its internal bar. Revenue in the cloud business jumped 49% in the first quarter of fiscal 2026, giving management ammunition to raise guidance for the network infrastructure division. The unit is now targeting growth of 12% to 14%, nearly double the previous outlook. CEO Justin Hotard has indicated that the full-year 2026 operating result is on track to reach between €2.0 billion and €2.5 billion.

The stock's extraordinary run has already priced in a good deal of optimism, however. With the shares trading more than 120% above their 200-day line, the focus now shifts to order flow and execution. The sustainability of Nokia's margin improvement and the pace at which telecom operators adopt its AI agents will determine whether this rally has further to run.
