Semiconductor and software giant Broadcom Inc. has confirmed a planned change in its executive leadership team. The company's current Chief Financial Officer, Kirsten M. Spears, will retire, with her successor, Amie Thuener, formally assuming the role on June 12, 2026.

Incoming CFO Brings Tech and Accounting Expertise

Amie Thuener will join Broadcom from Alphabet Inc., where she has served as Vice President, Corporate Controller, and Chief Accounting Officer since 2018. Her professional background includes a tenure at the accounting firm PricewaterhouseCoopers, specializing in transaction and accounting advisory services. Her compensation package at Broadcom is reported to include a base salary, a one-time signing bonus, and long-term equity awards linked to shareholder returns. Notably, her start date with the company is set for May 4, 2026, allowing for a several-week integration period prior to the official CFO handover.

A Deliberate Handover Amid Strategic Challenges

To ensure continuity, Kirsten M. Spears will remain in her position until the June transition date. Following this, she will provide advisory support to the company for a nine-month period, facilitating a smooth and structured transfer of responsibilities.

This leadership change comes at a pivotal time for Broadcom. The company is operating in a complex environment, contending with semiconductor manufacturing constraints—particularly at key partner TSMC—that pressure global supply chains. Concurrently, it is capitalizing on robust demand for artificial intelligence accelerators, a significant growth driver. In a recent operational milestone, Broadcom commenced volume production of its Tomahawk 6 switch, which boasts a throughput of 102.4 terabits per second, signaling continued progress on its product roadmap.
