The equity of Bloom Energy continues to demonstrate remarkable upward momentum, establishing itself as one of the standout performers linked to the artificial intelligence expansion. Over the past twelve months, the stock has surged by nearly 600%, a gain that shows no immediate signs of abating. However, following Citigroup's recent initiation of coverage and the achievement of fresh record highs, market participants are increasingly scrutinizing how much future growth is already reflected in the current valuation.

Operational Performance Exceeds Expectations

Fundamental business results provide a solid foundation for the ongoing optimism. Bloom Energy delivered a positive surprise with its fourth-quarter 2025 earnings. The company reported earnings per share of $0.45, significantly surpassing the consensus estimate of $0.25. Revenue also saw substantial growth, climbing almost 36% year-over-year to reach $777.68 million.

A primary driver of this operational strength is the immense energy demand from new AI data centers. With public power grids frequently operating at capacity limits, major operators, often referred to as hyperscalers, are increasingly adopting independent on-site power solutions—a trend described as "bring-your-own-power." According to a company report, Bloom Energy projects that by 2030, approximately one-third of all data centers could be powered entirely by on-site generation.

Analyst Coverage Fuels Further Momentum

The most recent leg of the share price advance was triggered by new analysis from Citigroup. On Tuesday, the stock gained strongly once again, with its price reaching €145.78. Citigroup analyst Vikram Bagri initiated coverage, issuing a price target of $162. While the bank assigned only a "Neutral" rating for now, considering the shares fairly valued at current levels, investors interpreted the confirmation of robust demand for power solutions as a compelling reason to buy.

This follows a series of upward revisions from other research firms after the quarterly report in early February. Morgan Stanley raised its target to $184, while BTIG set its objective at $165. Despite these adjustments, the average analyst price target still lags behind the stock's rapid appreciation, remaining below the current trading price.

Strategic Deals and Institutional Activity

A key catalyst for Bloom's positioning in this market is a strategic $5 billion partnership with Brookfield. This agreement establishes Bloom as the preferred supplier for Brookfield's global data center infrastructure, a significant long-term opportunity. This strategic move is attracting substantial institutional interest. The number of hedge funds holding positions in Bloom Energy jumped by over 37% last quarter, with investments now present in 88 portfolios.

Conversely, some company insiders have used the elevated share prices to realize gains. Transactions in February, including sales by insider Shawn Marie Soderberg, illustrated this profit-taking activity.

Despite the powerful structural tailwinds provided by the AI sector, a noticeable gap persists between the soaring share price and analyst targets. The company's ability to consistently meet these aggressive growth expectations will face its next major test with the upcoming quarterly report, scheduled for release on April 30, 2026.
