Bittium Forges Defense Alliance to Tackle Electronic Warfare Challenge
12.03.2026 - 06:14:01 | boerse-global.de
Finnish technology firm Bittium Oyj has entered a strategic collaboration with Sensofusion, targeting a critical problem on the modern battlefield: ensuring seamless interoperability between tactical communications and counter-drone systems. The partnership is designed to integrate defense technologies so they do not interfere with each other in electromagnetically contested environments. This move addresses the growing global demand for secure communication solutions amid the rising threat of electronic warfare.
A Technical Breakthrough for Joint Operations
A primary challenge has been that powerful radio frequency jamming used to neutralize enemy drones often jeopardizes the reliability of friendly tactical networks. Bittium and Sensofusion have now successfully completed initial tests demonstrating that their respective systems can operate concurrently without disrupting tactical data flow. Technologies involved include the Bittium TAC WIN system and software-defined radios from the Tough-SDR series.
The next phase will involve further refinement of this technical coordination. The ultimate objective is to provide defense forces with complete operational freedom, allowing them to maintain full command-and-control capabilities even while deploying active counter-drone measures.
Financial Performance and Market Reaction
Investors have responded favorably to these operational advancements and the company's strategic positioning. The stock extended its recent upward trend, posting a gain of approximately 13% over a one-week period. Closing at 30.40 euros on Wednesday, however, the shares remain about 29% below their 52-week high reached in January.

Strategic Growth in Defense and Security
This alliance forms a core component of Bittium's updated strategy for 2026–2028, which aims to accelerate its international growth in the defense and security segment. A significant catalyst is the technology transfer agreement initiated with Spanish group Indra at the end of 2025. This decade-long partnership holds a potential total value of up to 120 million euros. Furthermore, Bittium continues its participation in the EU-funded iMUGS2 project for unmanned ground systems.
Financial Targets for 2026
Looking ahead, management has set its revenue target for the full year 2026 between 140 and 155 million euros. Operating profit is projected to fall within a range of 26 to 32 million euros. These forecasts are largely underpinned by an order backlog that doubled in the prior year and a successful breakthrough in securing large international defense contracts.
