Bedford Metals Unlocks Nine Anomalies as Boron Data Points to Deeper Uranium Potential

Bedford Metals begins 2026 drilling at Sheppard Lake after boron spikes and radiometric surveys flag nine uranium target zones in Saskatchewan's Athabasca Basin.

A geochemical breadcrumb trail has emerged from the winter fieldwork at Sheppard Lake, and Bedford Metals is now drilling to see where it leads. The junior explorer wrapped up its third field campaign in northern Saskatchewan with radiometric surveys and rock sampling that flagged nine distinct anomalous zones, while a single drill hole from earlier work delivered a boron reading that uranium hunters consider a classic pathfinder signal.

Boron Spikes Signal Subsurface Potential

The standout geochemical result came from borehole SHP-25-02, where boron concentrations averaged 50.6 parts per million across a 25-metre interval. The peak reading hit 972 ppm at roughly 208 metres depth. In the Athabasca Basin, elevated boron is widely regarded as a telltale indicator for basement-hosted uranium mineralisation — the kind of signature that exploration teams chase when deciding where to sink deeper holes.

That boron anomaly now sits alongside the radiometric data as a key technical justification for the company's 2026 drilling campaign, which has already kicked off.

Radiometric Survey Maps Nine Target Zones

Bedford Metals completed ground-based radiometric surveys over 36.4 line kilometres, collecting 3,648 data points at ten-metre intervals. The work delineated four anomalous areas within the TZ-1 zone, with peak readings ranging from 420 to 1,134 counts per second. Adjacent to that, the TZ-2 West zone yielded three additional anomalies, the strongest hitting 1,231 CPS.

Should investors sell immediately? Or is it worth buying Bedford Metals?

Grab samples from the TZ-1 zone registered up to 4,114 CPS and returned uranium grades of 0.032% U?O?. At the Warr Lake area, two broad anomalous zones were identified, including the Silica Cap zone where earlier sampling produced readings as high as 10,609 CPS — underscoring the district-scale potential the company believes the project holds.

Fully Funded Drilling Underway

The 2026 programme calls for up to 2,000 metres of diamond core drilling, targeting the most promising of the nine anomalies. The rigs are already turning, with the focus on the TZ-1, TZ-2 and Silica Cap zones.

Financing for the campaign was secured through a private placement closed in mid-April, raising C$1 million earmarked for exploration at both Sheppard Lake and the company's Ubiquity Lake project. All field activities are being conducted under an exploration agreement with the English River First Nation, a framework established at the start of the year that formalises collaboration with local stakeholders.

Bedford Metals at a turning point? This analysis reveals what investors need to know now.

Market Reaction Muted Despite Progress

Shares in Bedford Metals edged up roughly 5% to 8% on the news flow, changing hands at €0.11. That modest gain does little to offset the stock's broader trajectory — it remains about 63% below its 52-week high of €0.29, reflecting the speculative nature of early-stage uranium exploration.

The company has shed roughly half its value over the past twelve months, a reminder that surface anomalies and pathfinder elements do not automatically translate into economic deposits. The drill core now being extracted will determine whether the geochemical and radiometric signals at Sheppard Lake have real depth — or whether this project joins the long list of explorers that flash bright at surface but deliver little below. First assay results are expected before the end of the year.
