Battalion Oil Corporation is reporting its most productive wells ever, a milestone driven by recently completed infrastructure upgrades in the heart of the Permian Basin. The company’s latest drilling pad at its Monument Draw asset in Ward County, Texas, has achieved the highest production per lateral foot in the firm’s history.

The operational breakthrough follows a strategic midstream expansion that was finished ahead of schedule and approximately 8% under its original budget. This investment has unlocked significant capacity, boosting total throughput across the asset area by more than 20%. Previously constrained wells can now operate at full flow, with average gas flow rates also climbing by over 20%.

Specific performance data underscores the improvement. Over a 20-day initial production period, the new wells averaged 1,568 barrels of oil equivalent per day, with oil constituting 61% of the output. The average lateral length for these wells was 6,294 feet. Company management notes these results are exceeding its internal type-curve expectations, suggesting the core inventory at Monument Draw holds considerable potential.

Should investors sell immediately? Or is it worth buying Battalion Oil?

Chief Executive Matt Steele highlighted the execution quality of the operational team in the first quarter. He framed the development as a dual benefit: rising production volumes are coinciding with a supportive commodity price environment, which together should strengthen the company’s balance sheet and liquidity. This financial reinforcement is intended to support Battalion’s ongoing drilling program.

With the infrastructure bottlenecks resolved, the focus shifts to utilization. The expanded processing capacity is now in place to handle increased volumes brought to market. The company’s ability to maintain this operational momentum through subsequent drilling cycles will be a key determinant of its near-term growth.

Battalion has also been active on the portfolio front, recently acquiring additional acreage in Ward County to expand its footprint within the Delaware Basin. This move, coupled with recent board and capital structure adjustments, positions the company to leverage its enhanced operational platform. The full financial impact of this record-setting production will become clearer when Battalion Oil releases its complete first-quarter 2026 results.
