A potent mix of corporate events and geopolitical volatility has placed ASML Holding NV squarely in the spotlight. The Dutch semiconductor equipment giant's shares, already up roughly 27 percent since the start of the year, face a critical ten-day period packed with earnings, a shareholder meeting, and a dividend payment.

The stock received a significant boost on Wednesday, April 8, following the announcement of a two-week US-Iran ceasefire. European markets rallied, with the STOXX 600 posting its strongest single-day gain in over four years. ASML shares surged between 8.9 and 11.8 percent on the news. The relief was tied to the potential reopening of the Strait of Hormuz, a vital energy corridor Iran had previously blocked, which promised to ease pressure on Asian economies. This region accounts for 60 to 70 percent of ASML's revenue. However, skepticism returned the next day after Israeli attacks on Lebanon prompted Iran to close the strait once more, causing the stock to relinquish some of its gains.

Against this backdrop, the company's first-quarter 2026 results, due before market open on Tuesday, April 15, will be closely scrutinized. Management has guided for revenue between €8.2 billion and €8.9 billion with a gross margin of 51 to 53 percent. Analyst consensus points to revenue growth of 14 to 15 percent and an approximate 13 percent rise in earnings per share. ASML has a history of exceeding estimates, which has further buoyed expectations. The firm's order backlog, which stood at €38.8 billion at the end of 2025, will be a key focus, with investors watching the pace at which these bookings convert into shipped systems and recognized sales.

The broader financial picture remains robust. For the full year 2026, ASML is targeting revenue in a range of €34 billion to €39 billion. The Zacks consensus is even more optimistic, forecasting 19 percent revenue growth and 21 percent profit growth, estimates that have been revised upward over the past 30 days. The long-term ambition of achieving €44 billion to €60 billion in revenue by 2030, with gross margins between 56 and 60 percent, remains intact.

Should investors sell immediately? Or is it worth buying Asml?

Simultaneously, the company continues to return capital to shareholders. A final dividend of €2.70 per share will be paid on April 24, representing a 17 percent increase year-over-year, bringing the total dividend for 2025 to €7.50 per share. A share buyback program of up to €12 billion for the 2026-2028 period is also underway. Between March 30 and April 3, ASML repurchased nearly 88,000 of its own shares for approximately €100 million.

Analyst sentiment has turned more bullish recently. TD Cowen raised its price target for ASML, with Bernstein SocGen Group and BofA Securities also issuing positive notes. Bernstein highlighted growth in DRAM capacity, while BofA pointed to stronger EUV demand and raised its revenue and profit estimates for 2026 through 2028. The structural shift toward EUV technology is clear, with its contribution to total revenue rising from 38 percent in 2024 to 48 percent in 2025, bolstering ASML's long-term pricing power.

Governance changes are also on the agenda. The Annual General Meeting on April 22 in Veldhoven will see a partial renewal of the executive board. Company veteran Marco Pieters, with over 25 years of experience, is slated to join as the new Chief Technology Officer. CFO Roger Dassen and COO Frédéric Schneider-Maunoury are proposed for renewed terms. On the supervisory board, Benjamin Loh, former CEO of ASM International, is nominated as a new member.

Asml at a turning point? This analysis reveals what investors need to know now.

A persistent overhang remains the company's exposure to China, which is expected to account for about 20 percent of 2026 revenue. Potential further US export restrictions continue to pose a risk to this significant revenue stream. As ASML navigates this pivotal week, the interplay between strong fundamental execution and these external geopolitical and regulatory forces will define its near-term trajectory.
