Following a period of share price weakness, ASML Holding NV is deploying a clear strategy to underscore its long-term confidence. The semiconductor equipment leader has announced a significant increase in its shareholder dividend alongside a new share repurchase program. These concurrent actions suggest management views the current market valuation as a temporary phase, a perspective supported by robust underlying fundamentals and a record order backlog.

A Foundation Built on Record Orders

The company's financial performance provides a solid base for its capital return policy. For the full year 2025, ASML reported revenue growth of 16%, reaching 32.7 billion euros. A particularly strong fourth quarter saw net bookings surge to a record 13.2 billion euros. Within this figure, orders for its cutting-edge EUV systems alone accounted for 7.4 billion euros. This performance has resulted in an unprecedented order backlog of 38.8 billion euros, granting the firm exceptional visibility into its future revenue streams.

Capitalizing on this strength, the board has raised the annualized dividend to $12.71 per share. This follows a prior quarterly payment of $1.88. In a complementary move executed in mid-March, the company initiated several share buybacks. This program is designed to reduce the share count and provide support for earnings per share.

Should investors sell immediately? Or is it worth buying Asml?

Market Analysts Spot a Compelling Entry Point

The recent approximate 5% monthly decline in ASML's share price is being interpreted by numerous institutional analysts as a potential buying opportunity. TD Cowen recently reaffirmed its buy rating, attaching a price target of 1,500 euros. Separately, Bank of America expressed optimism following investor meetings in Asia, noting that the ongoing memory chip cycle is expected to remain robust at least through the first half of 2027. This cycle is a direct driver of demand for ASML's high-performance lithography systems.

Further industry developments are providing additional momentum. Tesla's announced "Terafab" manufacturing plans have lifted expectations across the semiconductor equipment sector. As capacity for automotive and industrial chips expands, the need for advanced lithography solutions becomes increasingly unavoidable.

The Next Technological Leap: High-NA EUV

Looking ahead, ASML's strategic focus is firmly set on the transition to next-generation High-NA EUV technology. The company has indicated that volume production using these advanced systems is scheduled to commence in 2027 and 2028. While geopolitical export restrictions concerning China remain a noted risk factor, this is counterbalanced by two powerful structural trends: the expansion of AI data centers and the growing integration of chips within the automotive industry. Both trends are expected to support the utilization of the company's record order book for the foreseeable future.
