Antimony Resources Shares Hit Record Peak on Project Milestone

Antimony Resources' stock soared as it moves its North American project to resource definition, capitalizing on critical supply gaps and strong antimony grades.

Shares of Antimony Resources surged to an unprecedented level this week, propelled by a significant operational transition. The company is officially moving its Bald Hill project in New Brunswick from pure exploration into the resource definition stage—a shift warmly received by the market.

Geopolitical Backdrop Adds Strategic Value

The project's advancement carries substantial strategic weight within the current global landscape. Over 90% of worldwide antimony production is controlled collectively by China, Russia, and Tajikistan. Notably, in September 2024, China halted all antimony exports, citing the metal's critical military applications.

Antimony is essential for flame retardants, semiconductors, lead-acid batteries, and defense uses including ammunition, infrared sensors, and night-vision equipment. Approximately 20% of global demand originates from the defense sector, a figure that is trending upward. The global antimony market, currently valued at an estimated US$2.5 billion, is projected to potentially grow to between US$4.3 and US$4.4 billion by 2035.

Defining the Resource: A Critical Corporate Step

The immediate catalyst for the share price increase was the company's announcement that it will pursue its first official mineral resource estimate compliant with Canada's NI 43-101 reporting standard. This move is a pivotal corporate action to establish a quantifiable foundation for the Bald Hill project.

To conduct this estimate, Antimony Resources has engaged Toronto-based consultancy SRK Consultants. The selection is strategic; SRK recently worked on a comparable antimony deposit in Beaverbrook, Newfoundland. CEO James Atkinson described this prior experience as "invaluable" for the work at Bald Hill.

Drilling Program Nears Completion

On the ground, three drill rigs are currently operating simultaneously at the site. More than half of the planned 10,000-meter definition drilling program on the Main Zone is already complete. The objective is a 50-meter drill grid designed to provide the geological confidence required for a NI 43-101-compliant resource calculation.

The remaining drilling is scheduled for completion in April. Final laboratory assays of the mineralized samples will then require an additional three to four weeks. Concurrently, a 3D model of the mineralization is being developed to support both the resource estimate and future drilling targets.

Results to date paint a promising picture: the Main Zone extends over 700 meters in length and to a depth of at least 350 meters, with average grades ranging from 3% to 4% antimony. Atkinson has characterized Bald Hill as "the highest-grade antimony deposit in North America."

Financial Position and Forward Timeline

The company is in a solid financial position. A private placement completed in late 2025 raised over CAD 10 million. The exploration budget for 2026 is set at CAD 3 million, deemed sufficient to cover the remaining drilling and subsequent engineering studies.

Looking ahead, Antimony Resources has outlined key milestones. The mineral resource estimate itself is targeted for completion in the second half of 2026. Following that, the next formal step is to submit a permit application to the New Brunswick provincial government by late 2026 or early 2027.

Market Response

The equity responded strongly to this week's developments. On Tuesday, the stock advanced by more than 10% to reach C$1.59, marking a new all-time high. This rally pushed the company's market capitalization to just under C$150 million.
