Antimony Resources: Drilling Delivers the Goods, but the Market Demands a Number

Exploration success at Bald Hill fails to lift share price as lock-up expiry creates supply overhang; gold adds optionality but market awaits NI 43-101 resource estimate.

At €0.38, Antimony Resources sits at a crossroads that tells you everything about the gap between exploration success and market conviction. The stock has delivered some of the most eye-catching drill results in the junior mining space this year — high-grade antimony intercepts, a surprising gold discovery, and a narrative that ties directly into Western supply-chain anxiety. Yet the share price has been sliding since mid-March, knocked lower by an overhang of newly tradable stock and a market that wants proof, not promise.

The Bald Hill project in New Brunswick has become a study in contrasts. On one hand, the company’s latest drilling returned antimony grades as high as 33.40% in hole BH-26-25 and 13.14% in BH-26-20, with individual mineralized zones stretching up to 15.9 metres in BH-26-27. On the other, the stock now sits 64% below its March 17 peak of €1.05 and has lost around 13% of its value in the past week alone. Its annualized 30-day volatility of nearly 100% means every new assay result, every export headline from Beijing, and every share-lockup expiry can send the price swinging.

A second variable has entered the equation. On June 29, Antimony Resources reported gold grades averaging 1.14 grams per tonne over 2.56 metres, with a peak of 1.88 g/t over 4.95 metres. Crucially, the gold appears both alongside and independent of the antimony mineralization, raising the possibility that Bald Hill could support a dual-metals economic case. The company has since followed up with a fresh batch of antimony assays on July 6, but the gold signal — still an "emerging observation" rather than a defined resource — adds a layer of optionality that bulls are watching closely.

Should investors sell immediately? Or is it worth buying Antimony Resources?

The bear case is just as concrete. The company itself repeatedly cautions that its tonnage estimates remain conceptual and drill coverage is insufficient to confirm a mineral resource. The same caveat applies to the gold: promising but unproven. Meanwhile, shares from a recent private placement have emerged from their lock-up period, creating fresh supply that the current market is digesting. That dynamic — a compelling geological story colliding with a stream of new stock — is the real reason the share price has been unable to sustain its gains.

Technically, the stock has fallen below both its 50-day moving average of €0.46 and its 200-day average of €0.47. The relative strength index sits at 42, suggesting momentum has cooled without reaching oversold territory. That leaves room for further downside if the next drill results disappoint or if the long-awaited NI 43-101 resource estimate — the single most important catalyst on the horizon — gets delayed again.

The drilling program is roughly 18,000 metres and is designed to fill gaps in the Main Zone data while testing the newly identified Central, Marcus, and South zones. Assays from the Central Zone are currently being processed by Actlabs, with results expected within three to four weeks from the July 6 update. Every batch will be scrutinized for the consistency of high-grade antimony intercepts and for any confirmation that the gold zones extend meaningfully.

What the market really wants is a number it can model. Until a maiden resource estimate converts the scattered high-grade hits into a bankable figure, Antimony Resources will remain a story stock — one with strong tailwinds from Western antimony policy and China's export restrictions, but also one that is painfully exposed to the arithmetic of issued shares and waiting investors. The next few drill updates, and the eventual resource statement, will decide whether the stock breaks out of its current no-man's-land or drifts further toward its July 2025 low of €0.07.
