Insurance giant Allianz has unveiled a significant reorganization of its executive board, set to take effect on January 1, 2027. The changes are prompted by the forthcoming retirement of Klaus-Peter Röhler, who will step down from the board at the end of 2026 after nearly three decades with the company.

Key Executive Appointments and Realignments

Tomas Kunzmann, who has led the Allianz Partners division since 2022, is slated to succeed Röhler. Starting in 2027, he will assume responsibility for the Asia-Pacific region, including India. Renate Wagner, currently overseeing Asian operations, will shift her focus to the Germany, Switzerland, and Central & Eastern Europe markets. She will retain her existing duties in human resources and corporate acquisitions.

Sirma Boshnakova, already responsible for insurance operations in Western and Southern Europe, will gain additional oversight. The global personal lines property and casualty insurance business will now report to her.

CFO Secures Long-Term Contract Extension

In a separate move signaling a focus on continuity, Allianz has proactively extended the contract of Chief Financial Officer Claire-Marie Coste-Lepoutre. Her mandate has been renewed for an additional five years, now running through the end of 2031. Against a backdrop of shifting interest rates and ongoing industry-wide digital transformation, the company is emphasizing stability in this key leadership role.

Allianz shares currently trade approximately 10% below their 52-week high of €392.50, which was recorded in early January 2026. Market observers suggest the executive restructuring is unlikely to materially alter this near-term trading position.
