The software company ORTEC has bought TOBA HR Solutions, a workforce management specialist serving around 250 customers. The deal, announced on 14 July, brings under ORTEC's wing the scheduling operations of roughly 225,000 caregivers spread across 1,450 healthcare sites.

TOBA's system currently handles shift planning for those workers, a task that ORTEC intends to turbocharge with modern technology. The acquisition cements ORTEC's push into the healthcare workforce-management (WFM) market, with a clear geographical focus on Belgium and Luxembourg. Industry observers describe the move as a logical step toward market leadership in the region.

ORTEC CEO Georgios Sarigiannidis said the merger of know-how between the two firms will speed up the development of new approaches. "By combining our expertise, we can accelerate the creation of AI-driven solutions for the complex task of healthcare staff planning," he explained. The ultimate goal is fully automated, intelligent scheduling that delivers measurable added value to customers.

ORTEC plans to weave advanced technologies into TOBA's existing platform, turning manual rostering into a data-driven process. The acquisition signals growing demand for smart planning tools in a sector where labour shortages and shifting shift patterns put constant pressure on administrators.
