Thyssenkrupp Nucera, the hydrogen specialist, has secured a significant planning contract for a major 260-megawatt project in India. This development arrives as a positive operational signal for the company, which recently faced investor concern following a lowered annual forecast prompted by unexpectedly high costs.

Building a Bridge for Green Ammonia

The company will conduct the Front-End Engineering and Design (FEED) study for Indian client Juno Joule Green Energy. The core objective is to optimally integrate alkaline water electrolysis technology into the planned facility. The green energy produced is destined for ammonia production, with Europe slated as the primary export market. This deal strategically positions Nucera within the international decarbonization supply chain and strengthens its footprint in the crucial Asian market.

A Fundamental Support for the Share Price

This contract news emerges at a pivotal moment for the stock. Having plummeted approximately 27% over the past month, the shares closed at €8.03 on Thursday. This price lingers just above the 52-week low of €7.79 recorded earlier in the week. The new Indian order provides fundamental arguments that a base could be forming at these heavily depressed levels.

The Path to Financial Impact

The full financial potential of this project will materialize only in the medium term. Upon completion of the current FEED study, the partners will negotiate subsequent contracts for the full Engineering, Procurement, and Fabrication (EPF) phase. The Indian consortium is targeting a final investment decision for the plant for the 2026/27 fiscal year.

Until then, Nucera requires a steady stream of new orders to fully restore investor confidence after its revised annual guidance. The India deal represents a concrete step in that direction, demonstrating that the company's global expansion continues to advance despite internal challenges.
