Thyssenkrupp and its shareholders are examining strategic options for its stake in TK Elevator, with an initial public offering (IPO) explicitly under consideration. This move, announced on March 31, could see the German industrial group benefit once more from the elevator business it sold six years ago.

Financial Boost for a Corporate Transformation

For Thyssenkrupp, the potential monetization of its remaining investment arrives at a critical juncture. The company's share price has declined by approximately 25% over the past twelve months, trading well below its 52-week high of €13.24 reached in October 2025. The ongoing corporate restructuring is resource-intensive, and financial flexibility remains constrained. Fresh capital from a partial divestment could provide vital support for this transformation process.

Although Thyssenkrupp sold its elevator division for €17.2 billion in 2020 to a consortium comprising Advent International, Cinven, and the RAG-Stiftung, it reinvested a portion of the proceeds. The group retains a co-investor stake, which now represents a significant financial lever.

Should investors sell immediately? Or is it worth buying Thyssenkrupp?

Valuation and Market Position

Market analysts estimate that TK Elevator could be valued at up to €25 billion in a potential public listing. The company is a global leader in vertical transportation systems, reporting revenue of €9.2 billion for the 2024/2025 fiscal year. The coordination of a possible IPO is already underway, with Goldman Sachs, Deutsche Bank, Morgan Stanley, Barclays, and UBS appointed to manage the process.

No final decision regarding the TK Elevator IPO has been made. Should the listing proceed, it would enable Thyssenkrupp to capitalize on its remaining holding and strengthen its balance sheet with additional equity.
