- Zorlu Enerji sought approval to move a bond coupon payment from October 23, 2026, to April 23, 2027.
- The proposed change concerns the terms of the company's USD 1.1 billion eurobond obligations.
Zorlu Enerji asked bondholders to approve a deferral of a USD 60.5 million coupon payment on its eurobonds, according to a Reuters report published by Stockopedia on Thursday, October 22, 2026.
The coupon was due on October 23. Zorlu Enerji proposed moving the payment to April 23, 2027, while also seeking temporary changes to the bonds' terms and conditions. Reuters reported that the company had USD 1.1 billion of eurobonds outstanding.
Liquidity pressure shapes the proposal
For investors, the request places refinancing capacity and near-term liquidity at the center of the credit story. A deferral would change the timing of cash outflows, but it would not by itself reduce the principal outstanding or resolve the company's broader financing needs.
The proposal follows heightened attention on Zorlu Enerji's financial obligations. The company is part of Zorlu Holding, whose electronics subsidiary Vestel Elektronik has also been involved in debt restructuring discussions, Reuters reported.
