Yamato Holdings reviews cargo-aircraft plan for Yamato stock
Published on 10/01/2026 at 10:17 | Editorial responsibility: Rafael Müller, Editor-in-Chief AD HOC NEWSYamato Holdings (JP3940000007) announced on September 3, 2026 a policy to complete its domestic cargo-aircraft operation by June 2027, according to Note. The decision puts network costs, fuel exposure and package volumes at the center of the Yamato stock story.
Aircraft plan meets cost pressure
The policy does not end air transport entirely. The company plans to use cargo capacity on passenger flights after the dedicated-aircraft model became less attractive amid a weak yen and higher fuel costs, as Note reported on September 28, 2026.
That operational shift comes as Yamato balances pricing power against shipment volumes. In the fiscal year ending March 2026, the company handled 1.0 percent fewer Takkyubin, Takkyubin Compact and EAZY packages, while the average unit price rose from JPY 711 to JPY 726, according to Note.
Revenue grows while losses narrow
Yamato reported JPY 443.3 billion of operating revenue and a JPY 4.8 billion operating loss in the first quarter of fiscal 2027, compared with JPY 437.3 billion of revenue and a JPY 6.4 billion operating loss in the same quarter of fiscal 2026, according to Note. Revenue therefore increased by JPY 6.0 billion, while the operating loss narrowed by JPY 1.6 billion.
For the fiscal year ending March 2026, revenue reached JPY 1.8656 trillion and operating profit was JPY 28.3 billion, compared with JPY 1.7626 trillion and JPY 14.2 billion in the previous fiscal year, according to Reuters. The near doubling of operating profit gives the stock a stronger earnings base, but the first-quarter loss shows that network utilization remains important.
Target rises to JPY 1,950
A Japanese brokerage kept its Neutral rating on September 9, 2026 and raised its price target from JPY 1,800 to JPY 1,950, according to Yahoo Finance. The target increase was JPY 150, or 8.33 percent, while the unchanged rating points to a measured view of the recovery.
Stock remains below yearly high
Yamato stock was last at JPY 1,979.50 on the Tokyo Stock Exchange on October 1, 2026 at 3:30 p.m. JST. Its 52-week range was JPY 1,697.00 to JPY 2,366.50, putting the latest price 16.35 percent below the high, while market capitalization stood at JPY 626.9 billion.
