- Varun Beverages increased Q3CY26 beverage volumes by 28.7 percent, with India and international markets both contributing.
- Packaging costs reduced gross and EBITDA margins despite higher revenue, profit and beverage realizations.
- The company approved a third interim dividend of INR 0.50 per share, with November 5 set as the record date.
Varun Beverages reported strong operating growth for the third quarter of calendar year 2026, but higher packaging costs weighed on profitability. According to Ventura Securities, consolidated revenue rose 33.2 percent year over year, while net profit increased 13.5 percent to INR 830.59 crore.
Volumes rise as costs bite
Consolidated beverage volumes climbed 28.7 percent to 35.44 crore cases in Q3CY26. India volumes grew 22.5 percent, while international markets advanced 39.9 percent, supported by wider distribution, favorable weather and stronger demand.
Profitability did not keep pace with sales. Gross margin fell 334 basis points to 53.1 percent, and EBITDA margin declined 140 basis points to 21.6 percent. Ventura Securities attributed the pressure mainly to higher prices for plastic preforms, shrink films, closures and aluminum cans, alongside a rise in sugar costs.
Average beverage realization per case increased 2.2 percent year over year, while domestic realization rose 0.5 percent. Carbonated soft drinks accounted for 73.3 percent of volumes, followed by packaged drinking water at 21.9 percent and juice-based drinks at 4.8 percent.
Dividend sets next investor date
The board approved a third interim dividend of INR 0.50 per share for calendar year 2026. November 5, 2026 was set as the record date, making the dividend payment schedule the next dated item for eligible shareholders.
For investors, the central issue is whether volume expansion can continue to offset input-cost inflation. The company will need better pricing, mix and operating leverage to rebuild margins as its domestic and international footprint expands.
Business model and competition
Yahoo Finance describes Varun Beverages as a Gurugram-based manufacturer, bottler, seller and distributor of PepsiCo beverages across India and several South Asian and African markets. Its portfolio includes carbonated soft drinks, juices, energy drinks, sports drinks, packaged water and snacks. In the bottling and beverage landscape, KoalaGains compares the company with United Breweries, Coca-Cola FEMSA and Coca-Cola Europacific Partners; Varun Beverages is more focused on high-growth India and African markets, while the Coca-Cola bottlers operate at greater global scale or in more mature regions.
