- ING Germany is providing a 10-year facility backed by a 95% SACE guarantee.
- The financing is intended to support Turkish customers importing goods and services from Italy.
- Vak?fBank has also expanded its access to international funding through other institutional guarantees in 2026.
Vak?fBank has secured a 10-year, 200 million euro financing facility from ING Germany backed by a 95% guarantee from Italy's export credit agency SACE, Global Trade Review reported on October 23, 2026. The facility is intended to finance Turkish customers importing goods and services from Italy and to support trade between the two countries.
Long-term funding targets trade
The financing gives Vak?fBank access to a longer maturity than is typical for much of Turkey's banking system, where deposits are generally short term. The structure is designed to reduce the funding burden for corporate clients involved in foreign trade, while the SACE guarantee supports the lender's access to international financing.
SACE said the transaction could support exports by more than 100 Italian companies, mainly small and medium-sized businesses. The deal follows a similar SACE-backed transaction completed by ING and Vak?fBank in 2023.
International funding remains central
Chief Executive Officer Osman Arslan said the bank had secured 2 billion US dollars in new funding since the beginning of 2026 under guarantees from international institutions, including Austria's OeKB and World Bank Group members. A separate 250 million US dollar trade-finance facility involving JPMorgan was backed by MIGA in June.
For investors, the financing broadens Vak?fBank's wholesale funding channels and supports its trade-finance franchise. The benefit for earnings will depend on loan demand, funding costs, credit quality and the bank's ability to convert international liquidity into profitable lending.
VakifBank's banking platform
Headquartered in Istanbul, Vak?fBank provides banking and financial services to corporate, commercial, small-business, retail and investment customers in Turkey and international markets. Its products include deposits, consumer and business loans, trade finance, payment services, capital-markets activities and investment products.
Global Trade Review describes Vak?fBank as one of Turkey's three large state-owned banks and one of the country's biggest lenders by assets. Its closest state-owned peers are Ziraat Bank and Halkbank, while Vak?fBank's profile is particularly linked to corporate lending, trade finance and long-term international funding.
