Third Coast Bancshares reported net income of USD 19.0 million for the third quarter ended September 30, 2026, according to the Morningstar report carrying the company's PR Newswire release. Diluted earnings per share were USD 0.93, while adjusted diluted earnings per share reached USD 1.06 after excluding acquisition-related expenses.
Margin narrows as loans expand
Net interest margin declined to 3.70 percent from 3.83 percent in the second quarter and 4.10 percent a year earlier. Net interest income still rose 17.1 percent from the prior-year quarter to USD 59.5 million, although it slipped from USD 60.3 million in the second quarter.
Gross loans increased to USD 5.49 billion at September 30 from USD 5.44 billion three months earlier and USD 4.17 billion a year before. Deposits reached USD 5.92 billion, while noninterest-bearing demand deposits rose to USD 721.2 million, or 12.2 percent of total deposits.
Merger sets the strategic agenda
Third Coast announced on October 7 that it had agreed to acquire Great Plains Bancshares in an all-stock transaction valued at approximately USD 239.6 million based on the October 6 closing price. The company expects the transaction to close in the first quarter of 2027, subject to the required approvals and other closing conditions.
The proposed combination would broaden Third Coast's presence in Dallas and establish an entry into Oklahoma. Investors will therefore weigh the planned expansion against the current margin pressure and the USD 3.2 million of acquisition-related expenses recorded in the latest quarter.
Texas banking franchise
Third Coast Bancshares is a commercially focused bank holding company based in Texas. Through its wholly owned Third Coast Bank subsidiary, it serves customers primarily in the Greater Houston, Dallas-Fort Worth and Austin-San Antonio markets through 20 branches, according to the company's investor-relations profile.
