- A Tata Tele study dated September 16, 2026 found that 84 percent of Indian SMEs planned to increase cybersecurity spending.
- The survey covered 800 IT decision-makers across eight Indian cities.
- Revenue from operations rose 6.10 percent year over year to INR 3.02 billion in the first quarter of fiscal 2027.
- EBITDA margin reached 54.68 percent in the first quarter of fiscal 2027.
Tata Tele's SME cybersecurity study found that 84 percent of Indian small and medium-sized businesses planned to increase security investment, giving the company a concrete demand signal on September 16, 2026. ScanX News reported that the study covered 800 IT decision-makers across eight Indian cities.
Cybersecurity demand reaches 84 percent
The study found that 40 percent of surveyed SMEs had faced a cyber incident during the previous 24 months, while 28 percent had made structural security improvements afterward. The contrast gives Tata Tele's business services division a clear commercial opening, but it also shows that planned spending is not yet equal to operational readiness.
Only 12 percent of respondents continuously monitored their cybersecurity environments, and 45 percent cited a shortage of expertise as the largest implementation barrier. For Tata Tele, that gap supports the case for integrated connectivity, cloud and security services rather than standalone tools.
Quarterly revenue grows 6.10 percent
In the first quarter of fiscal 2027, Tata Teleservices (Maharashtra) reported revenue from operations of INR 3.02 billion, up 6.10 percent from INR 2.84 billion a year earlier. ScanX News reported that EBITDA margin increased to 54.68 percent from 51.65 percent during the same period.
The improvement did not remove the loss. Net loss narrowed to INR 721.5 million from INR 3.25 billion in the year-ago quarter, while finance costs remained INR 2.06 billion. The result was also uneven sequentially: the company had reported a profit of INR 5.81 billion in the fourth quarter of fiscal 2026, according to Faxioms.
Debt remains the key counterweight
The company redeemed commercial papers worth INR 5.75 billion on September 8, 2026, and its trading window closed from October 1, 2026, until the disclosure of second-quarter and first-half fiscal 2027 results, according to Faxioms. That timing makes the next results the key test of whether revenue growth can persist while financing pressure remains high.
Market value and operating scale
Tata Teleservices (Maharashtra) had a market capitalization of INR 66.0 billion as of October 13, 2026. Its 52-week range was INR 31.22 to INR 58.25, placing the market value against a still wide trading history.
