- Suburban Propane's fiscal 2026 results will show whether its renewable natural gas expansion is beginning to offset seasonal weakness in propane.
- Analysts expect a narrower fourth-quarter loss, while leverage, distribution coverage and operating costs remain key investor focus points.
- The partnership's next results conference call is scheduled for November 12, 2026.
Suburban Propane Partners is heading into its fiscal 2026 results with investors focused on whether its renewable natural gas platform can contribute meaningfully as the core propane business enters its seasonal trough. In an analysis published on Wednesday, November 4, Earnings Whispers said the November 12 report will test the progress of the partnership's RNG facilities and its balance sheet.
The analysis says analysts expect a loss of 0.43 US dollars per unit on revenue of 215.6 million US dollars, compared with a loss of 0.62 US dollars and revenue of 211.4 million US dollars a year earlier. With summer propane volumes typically weaker, the quality of any improvement will depend on margins, cost control and contributions from RNG production, environmental credits and tax credits.
Renewable gas remains central
Suburban Propane's Upstate New York digester began operating after the June quarter, according to the analysis, while an upgrade in Columbus, Ohio was expected to come online during the fiscal fourth quarter. Together, the projects are intended to lift annual injection to between 750,000 and 800,000 MMBTUs. Confirmation that the Columbus project started on schedule and evidence of early New York production will be important markers for investors.
The company also faces pressure from its established operations. Earlier results showed lower retail gallons after unusually warm weather, while adjusted EBITDA declined and operating and general and administrative expenses increased. The balance sheet remains another focus: debt reductions have not yet translated into lower leverage, and distribution coverage has weakened.
Suburban Propane's investor-relations site says the fiscal 2026 full-year and fourth-quarter results call is scheduled for Thursday, November 12, 2026, at 9:00 AM Eastern Time. The call is expected to provide the next update on RNG output, capital spending, leverage and the business outlook.
Business model and competition
Suburban Propane Partners is headquartered in Whippany, New Jersey, and markets and distributes propane, fuel oil and refined fuels while also marketing natural gas and electricity in deregulated markets. The company serves residential, commercial, industrial and agricultural customers across 41 states through about 700 locations. In the US propane distribution market, it competes with larger-scale operators such as AmeriGas and Ferrellgas; a November 2026 Ferrellgas investor presentation placed Suburban behind those two companies by reported 2025 retail propane volume, while still identifying a fragmented market.
