- Promigas confirmed 58 MPCD of added SPEC LNG capacity on October 15, 2026.

SPEC LNG adds 58 MPCD as Promigas stock faces gas supply pressure after the company confirmed the expansion on October 15, 2026. The terminal is expected to reach 533 million cubic feet per day of regasification capacity, according to Portafolio.
Expansion answers a supply gap
Promigas operates the Sociedad Portuaria El Cayao terminal in Cartagena, where the additional 58 million cubic feet per day is intended to strengthen access to imported natural gas. Portafolio reported that the project had originally been scheduled for September 2027 before Promigas brought it forward to October 2026.
The timing reflects a tighter domestic gas balance. In its InfoGas 2026 report dated September 15, 2026, Promigas said gas production had fallen 12 percent in 2025 and 31 percent versus 2021. Proven reserves declined from 3.164 Gpc in 2021 to 1.717 Gpc in 2025.
What does 533 MPCD change?
The higher terminal capacity improves the physical ability to receive and regasify imported gas, but the commercial outcome still depends on cargo availability, supply contracts and transport capacity. Promigas' report said imported gas accounted for 28 percent of national supply during 2026 and reached 34 percent in August 2026.
Three dated operating milestones
In December 2016, SPEC LNG entered operation, creating Colombia's connection to international liquefied natural gas markets, as Portafolio reported. On September 15, 2026, Promigas presented its gas-sector report with a 533 MPCD expansion plan, according to Promigas. On October 15, 2026, Portafolio reported that the added 58 MPCD was expected to enter operation the following week.
Next reporting date is November 12
Promigas is scheduled to publish quarterly results on November 12, 2026, according to TickerLandia. The report should give investors a clearer view of how the expanded infrastructure fits into earnings and capital spending.
Gas infrastructure remains central
Promigas combines natural gas transport and distribution, electricity distribution and energy solutions in Colombia. The expansion therefore links an immediate infrastructure step with the company's broader role in national energy security, while the next results date provides the next concrete checkpoint for the stock.
