SKC stock falls 1.61 percent as Vietnam expansion advances

As AsiaToday reported on October 7, 2026, SKC subsidiary ISC plans to invest USD 22 million in its Vietnamese manufacturing subsidiary to expand production capacity and infrastructure.
Vietnam investment targets semiconductors
ISC VINA will receive the capital for an additional manufacturing base and infrastructure investment, while Vietnam handles high-volume production and South Korean facilities focus on research, development and complex manufacturing. ISC plans to raise test socket capacity from 2 million units per year to 5 million units, linking the expansion to demand from AI processors, server CPUs and application-specific integrated circuits.
The investment builds on ISC's improving operating profile. AsiaToday reported that SKC's semiconductor materials segment generated KRW 12.2 billion in net profit in the first half of 2026, compared with KRW 2.4 billion in the same period a year earlier. Segment revenue rose from KRW 141.1 billion to KRW 174.9 billion, an increase of 23.9 percent.
Battery materials remain the counterweight
SKC's broader recovery is still uneven. The secondary battery materials division posted a first-half net loss of KRW 134.4 billion, while the group operating loss narrowed from KRW 142.5 billion in the same period a year earlier to KRW 43.2 billion, a reduction of 69.7 percent.
The figures make semiconductor execution central to the SKC story because the newer materials business is improving while battery-related losses remain large. The Vietnam project therefore adds capacity before a companywide return to operating profit.
Consensus stays below the current price
StockHub lists four analyst reports for SKC, with one Buy, three Neutral ratings and no Sell rating. The average target is KRW 109,500 and the median target is KRW 107,000, compared with the KRW 109,900 market price.
The consensus range places the current quotation above both central target measures, while the operating data point to a sharper split between semiconductor growth and battery-material losses. That combination leaves production expansion and margin recovery as the key company-specific measures.
