Shinhan cuts target for LG Display stock to KRW 13,000.00
Published on 10/07/2026 at 02:31 | Editorial responsibility: Rafael Müller, Editor-in-Chief AD HOC NEWSShinhan Investment Securities cut its target for LG Display to KRW 13,000.00 on October 6, 2026, a 19.00 percent reduction, according to Edaily. The revision puts exchange rates, panel pricing and third-quarter profitability at the center of the LG Display stock story.
Profit forecast faces pressure
Shinhan projects third-quarter revenue of KRW 6.60 trillion, down 5.00 percent year over year. Operating profit is forecast at KRW 297.7 billion, 20.00 percent below the KRW 370.3 billion consensus estimate, according to Edaily.
The analyst also expects mobile OLED shipments to rise 16.00 percent year over year in the second half of 2026, while IT OLED demand remains constrained by higher component costs and weaker device demand. That combination explains why the target fell even as OLED shipment growth remains part of the operating case.
Second-quarter losses define the base
LG Display generated KRW 5.61 trillion of revenue in the second quarter of 2026 and posted a KRW 107.7 billion operating loss. The earnings call transcript also recorded a KRW 418.8 billion net loss and a 2.00 percent operating margin, according to Yahoo Finance.
The quarter included KRW 240.0 billion of one-off restructuring costs. Area shipments nevertheless increased 12.00 percent from the prior quarter to 3.60 million square meters, showing the tension between improving volume and weak near-term profitability.
OLED mix meets a firm date
Management expects OLED monitors to reach 20.00 percent of large-size shipments in 2026, compared with the low-teen percentage level in 2025. The company also expects 2026 first-half revenue of KRW 11.15 trillion and operating profit of KRW 390.0 billion, figures listed in LG Display investor materials.
LG Display has scheduled its third-quarter 2026 earnings conference call for October 22, 2026, according to LG Display. For investors, the key test is whether seasonal OLED volume can offset exchange-rate pressure and restore operating profit after the restructuring charge.
