Saigon-Hanoi Commercial Joint Stock Bank reported estimated pre-tax profit of VND 14.3 trillion for the first nine months of 2026, an increase of 17% from a year earlier. The figures were reported by Vietnam News on October 19.

The result represented about 81% of SHB's full-year profit target. Total assets reached an estimated VND 993.5 trillion at September 30, up 11.4% from the end of 2025. Operating income rose 16% to about VND 26.3 trillion, while non-interest income accounted for nearly 30% of the total.

Capital increase broadens financial capacity

SHB completed an additional issuance of 750 million shares, lifting charter capital above VND 53.4 trillion. The bank was completing regulatory and listing procedures for the newly issued shares, according to the report.

SHB also said Krungsri, part of Japan's MUFG Financial Group, had paid in full for the transfer of the remaining 50% stake in SHBFinance, now known as SFinance. The bank expects to recognise the resulting profit in the fourth quarter, with the effect depending on the transaction value, carrying value and accounting timing.

International funding supports lending plans

On October 12, SHB announced a syndicated loan agreement coordinated by Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation with an initial amount of USD 340 million. The three-year facility is intended to support lending and eligible projects under the agreement, including projects with environmental, social and governance characteristics.

SHB also received approval for its international bond offering and for the bonds to be listed on the Singapore Exchange. The bonds had begun trading on the Singapore securities market when Vietnam News published its report.

Business model and banking position

SHB is a Vietnamese commercial bank offering corporate, retail and digital banking services. Its activities include lending, deposits, payments, cash management, guarantees and trade finance, with an emphasis on serving corporate customers and related suppliers, businesses and employees.

In Vietnam's banking sector, SHB is smaller by market capitalisation than larger listed peers such as Vietcombank, BIDV and Techcombank. Stockbiz lists SHB among the 25 largest of 30 bank stocks and places it alongside those competitors in the sector.
