SABIC returned to positive adjusted earnings in the third quarter of 2026, according to the company's Q3 results announcement published on October 25. Adjusted net income reached SAR 0.84 billion, compared with an adjusted net loss of SAR 0.38 billion in the second quarter.
Recovery led by operating gains
Revenue increased 14 percent quarter-on-quarter to SAR 28.17 billion. Adjusted EBITDA rose 40 percent to SAR 4.75 billion, while adjusted EBIT climbed 434 percent to SAR 2.17 billion. Adjusted earnings per share improved to SAR 0.28 from a loss of SAR 0.13 in the previous quarter.
The figures point to a sharp sequential improvement in profitability, although SABIC said geopolitical developments and market headwinds remained part of the operating environment. The company presented the quarterly recovery alongside a longer-term focus on portfolio optimization, transformation and selective growth.
Transformation remains central
SABIC said it had achieved SAR 3.56 billion, equivalent to USD 0.95 billion, of the positive recurring EBITDA impact targeted under its 2030 transformation program. The company also completed the divestment of its engineering thermoplastics business in the Americas and Europe for an enterprise value of USD 450 million.
Net debt stood at SAR 3.03 billion on September 30, compared with SAR 2.73 billion on June 30. SABIC also highlighted a final investment decision for a new ammonia and urea complex in Saudi Arabia and feedstock allocation for a new methanol plant in Jubail.
Global chemicals portfolio
Headquartered in Riyadh, SABIC operates across the chemicals value chain through its Chemicals, Polymers and Agri-Nutrients strategic business units. The company serves customers in more than 140 countries across the Americas, Europe, the Middle East and Africa, and Asia Pacific. SABIC describes itself as one of the three largest global chemical companies, with a diversified international footprint rather than a single regional market focus.
