Pay Claims Trigger Project Disruption

Workers alleged that they were paid about R31 an hour instead of R57 and said they faced threats of dismissal after raising concerns. The claims relate to roadworks and civil engineering duties at the project.

Raubex rejected suggestions that its remuneration practices breached labour requirements. The company said the project operates under the National Bargaining Council for the Electrical Industry framework and that its practices align with South African labour legislation.

Company Investigates Conduct Allegations

Raubex also referred allegations of inappropriate workplace conduct, including an alleged racial slur, to its human resources and industrial relations departments. The company said no findings had been made and that it would take appropriate action if misconduct were substantiated.

Raubex said it has zero tolerance for racism, discrimination, harassment and other inappropriate conduct. Further engagement with labour representatives and relevant stakeholders is expected to determine how the dispute develops.

Interim Results Due November 9
