Primis Financial Corp. reported stronger core banking results for the quarter ended September 30, 2026, while mortgage activity remained a drag. The company announced the figures on Thursday, October 22, in a Yahoo Finance page carrying the PR Newswire release.
Core margin expands despite mortgage pressure
Net income available to common shareholders reached 8.7 million US dollars, or 0.35 US dollars per diluted share, compared with 6.8 million US dollars, or 0.28 US dollars, in the third quarter of 2025. Operating net income rose 27 percent year over year.
Net interest income increased 25 percent to 36.3 million US dollars. Net interest margin widened to 3.66 percent from 3.18 percent a year earlier, or 3.59 percent after excluding approximately 0.7 million US dollars of interest recoveries from a previously charged-off loan.
Mortgage-related headwinds offset part of that progress. Primis said its retail mortgage pipeline fell 37 percent and that the mortgage division posted a pretax loss of approximately 0.3 million US dollars, compared with earnings of 1.9 million US dollars in the prior-year quarter.
Dividend sets the next investor date
The board declared a quarterly cash dividend of 0.10 US dollars per share. The payment is scheduled for November 20, 2026, for shareholders of record on November 6.
Asset quality improved year over year, with nonperforming assets excluding SBA guarantees at 1.43 percent of total assets versus 2.07 percent a year earlier. Tangible book value per common share rose 18 percent to 13.81 US dollars.
